Depending on how we go, I can see Hopgood being in the Qld Origin side THIS YEAR. He is clearly the type of player who thrives for Qld in Origin, and the type of player they love to have in the squad.

I used to think talk of Origin in Rd 6 was pre-emptive FFS!

I wonder if there'll be any ripple effect this year, from the Matterson self-first decision?

In terms of people opting not to play through minor injury for the sake of the team, and looking for the easiest way out, just like Ryan's actions appear to have laid the example.

Doubt it… it will simply show what stupid selfish decision it was by Ryan and now only further highlighted by injuries to other back rowers.
It actually beggars belief in a team environment.
So no, no ripple effect just hightened focus on an absolutely disgraceful decision and a clear question mark on Ryan’s character

So after watching the replay after about 7 too may whisky’s, thoughts are as follows:
- Hopgood is a f**king gun. My new favourite eel
- Cini did not look out of place
- Mitch Moses is like a fine wine, just gets better with age
- JUNZ and RCG are our best front row pairing since Bugden and Leabeter
- Murchie might be ok
- hodgo was SOOOOOOOOO MUCH better than he showed last week
- f**k Matto the cheap greedy merkin

Nobody really gave a f**k last week except the kids, of which Penrith had more. Their defence worked very hard for a trial match.

Hodgo was rusty as f**k last week, better this week but still not near as good as he could be ( has been )

Understandable given his time out, give him half a dozen games or so to get back into the groove and then we'll know where he's at. I suspect we'll see quite an improvement.

On the game as a whole pretty good, but we allowed them to get a roll on too easily, a bit too much arm grabbing in defence. Need to get better in defence.

Also we struggled to get out of our own end too often, sometimes I think we need to use the ball every now and then just to try and keep the defence honest and stop them compressing so much that our big boppers are getting three and four defenders on them with ease before hitting the advantage line.

Agree 100% but you forgot about Russell, played extremely well and guaranteed himself a wing spot, not too fussed about Lumelume though. Doorey also went ok but can't go past Hopgood, what an impressive player in the mould of Yeo and another point of attack. Will be BOTY (BUY OF THE YEAR) by a country mile imo.
