I sincerely hope that is the reason for his non selection and look forward to seeing him have a few more cracks at 1st grade and ultimately cement a spot.
Nope
He is picked in reserve grade for this week

From what I've seen so far of Ravalawa we would hardly notice the difference if we moved Aitken to Ravalawa's wing, Aitken is a strong guy who would bring the ball back just as well, he maybe able to even catch the ball, that'd be a bonus, and in terms of speed I doubt Aitken would lose a match race with him. Then Norman can move and add another dimension at centre and get Widdop back to running the team from 5/8 and Dufty given a chance to make a difference at FB rather than 5 minute guest appearances. Lomax on standby if Dufty falters.

The reason most people want to move Widdop from fullback is because he performed poorly there in rounds 1 and 2. There is no guarantee Dufty will perform well however, as Widdop performed poorly, I'm all for testing Dufty again to see how much he improved over the off season.

So where do we put Widdop now? In my humble opinion Norman is doing well at 6 and my tip is he will do better each game so I do not think it a good idea to replace Norman with Widdop.

Our two centres are our main problem in the backline. If we had two good centres who could setup our wingers and defend successfully, I'm sure we would be much further down the track of having a balanced and competitive backline. So, Lomax for Aitken and Widdop for Lafai would seem a very good move to me. Widdop and Norman could combine to break the line in attack and put Pereira away with some crisp passes and short kicks.

The main reason I want Pearson over Ravalawa is because Ravalawa seemed way below first grade standard and as we had not seen anything of Pearson as yet, now would seem a good time to try him out.

I think k Sims is an obvious choice at the right edge. He has played there before. And let's be honest we played t Sims in the middle the first year or two he came to the dragons and now he is fantastic on the left edge.

I thought we lost our way when leilua came on. Not sure what to do with him because in attack he is very good and dangerous. But he is lazy in defence and lacks and punch in the tackle.

All this widdop bashing needs to stop. Our forwards were completely outplayed in the second half. In the first half widdop, Norman and hunt combined well. So we really need to see our forwards step up and win the middle. Then we will see how effective the positional switch is.

Whoever said lafai should be dropped was watching a different game to me.

Wing is a problem for us. But we didn't anticipate McDonald leaving so would have been too late to the player market to secure something decent.

Unfortunately we miss leeson. And we miss de belin. And now we miss frizell.

I thought Blake Lawrie is adapting well to first grade. Good intensity. Hard task starting but will be all the better for it.

And hunt to hooker is not the answer. He could not defend in the middle for half a game and be an effective hooker. Mcinnes is the man. Or Robson.

Well that just shits me to tears.
Won't be long before Maranta makes his debut and Runciman to get an upgrade to fill the 30th spot.
I have supported this club (well at least the Saints side of the equation) my entire life but FMD it is getting harder and harder to do so.
Thank God I am closer to the end of the journey and God help the poor bastards just starting out.

Oates is going to rip Ravalawa a new one.

Bird played well last week and Jimmy the Jet may be a handful for Aitken and Lafai.

Fafita and Pangai - oh God weez in trubs.

We need Hunt, Norman and Widdop to have huge ones.

McInnes will make his usual forty tackles and dart from dummy half -no dramas there.

No concussions for Jimmy.

Sorry to say but Host and Lawrie aren't up to Suncorp at this time.

Another hatrick for Tariq

Saints by four. (I hope)

I may be dreaming but I seem to recall Rav was bundled in to touch short of the line when a flyer would have easily got there in game 1
SF...Watch it again, wet greasy night. Did not get a pass at pace running onto it with no room to move.
But we can agree to disagree we will see how it unfolds. Happy to give him a few more weeks yet before hauling him back to reggies. I like how he threatens to bust through tackles in early hit ups.
Cant wait to see him on a sunny dry track...we mihgt have to wait a bit for that.

Love the way coach has said Dufty is actually on the bench as an "outside back replacement" which surely must mean he is not there as Mr X Factor.
So what we actually do is replace a forward and reshuffle 3 positions in the backline and in fact we don't replace a back at all, we just shuffle them around into different positions.
So that IMO means that, Hunt is actually a forward replacement and that constitutes the beginning of all the changes which in fact are now 13 - bench, 9 - 13, 7 - 9, 6 - 7, 1 - 6, 14 - 1 and that is technically very different to 14 - 1, 1 - 6, 6 - 7, 7 - 9, 9 - 13, 13 - bench.
Now that we have determined that 13 is the issue it all makes sense as that is the very reason why we had Mann on the bench.
Paperweight backs as a bench spot to help fill gaps in the forwards and not give the hooker a break and of course Dufty is a much better option than that loser Mann and both are / were better options than another forward (who is Robinson anyway?)
So none of this is actually new it is just a continuation of an already "proven" coaching tactic and we offloaded Mann (to get a better result) who by the way now just replaces the Newcastle hooker and no other positions change as a result of that.
FMD Browny has no idea he needs to have a coffee with coach and learn a few things.

Poor Mary apart from confusing, frustrating and baffling the supporters he confuses himself with his own baffling science to coaching and his justification using big word coaching talk.
He has read to many coaching manuals and forget to look what is out there in front of him.
