Anyone who doubts the importance of Nathan Friend, should watch the tape I think... the work he did was astonishing

Bulldogs are seriously good at the moment, as you say good effort

I think it gives some perspective as to where they are currently are, and it's not far off.

Triple M were really giving it to the Warriors in the second half, not sure how much was deserved but there were some silly errors.

How was the 2nd half effort, as I got the impression it wasn't that great

yeh, I thought it was a pretty good effort too. just abit disappointed with some of the soft errors and penalties when we really needed to complete our sets and apply pressure. The first 15mins was great tho.

yeh second half we came out looking a bit tired after some huge defensive effort in the last 20mins of the first half. People were dropping the ball cold and/or giving away silly penalties. The possession dropped away. We could have pinched the game at the end but probably would have been undeserved. Bulldogs are very solid right now.

Can't fault the effort, but a loss is a loss.

Some of those errors were just too simple.

Glad we don't have to play the dogs again, haven't enjoyed watching their games this year so now have a choice. A very frustrating and questionable brand of football. Still, if it were the Warriors doing it and getting the wins I wouldn't complain so good luck to them as long as they get away with it.

I like our linespeed and aggressiveness in defence...I think some of our offside penalties came from that. They just need to time it a touch more. Also I cant help noticing a number of forwards going for the big hit and missing completely, usually from one off the ruck, Seb in particular, but Lillyman as well today. I am guessing that is coaches orders to nail the first hitup runners. No lack of effort, just dropped to much ball and gave away too many penalties.

Good game, very close and competitive against the top team. they won't want to play the Warriors in the finals

We put too much pressure on ourselves with the dropped balls and lopsided penalty count, and therefor they dominated most of the game. Yet, we we still had a shot at winning it.

Had we played a bit cleaner and just one or two things gone our way we would have won that. They got the dropsies at just the wrong moments in the game.

Chad's kicking sucks. Johnson needs to be taking way more of the 5th tackle options.

If they hadn't started the season so poorly then people would probably be a whole lot more forgiving of this one I think.

You can't win em all and they were taking on the, so far, competition frontrunners and still nearly stole it at the end.

Some really basic errors that let them down and SJ was a bit off target, but they still fronted up which was the big problem to begin the season, actually showing up and putting some effort in.

Saps a lot out of teams to soak up what the Dogs pack throws at them.

They need to coat Manu's hands in glue or something.

Liked seeing Tomkins showing a bit of agro, though he wouldn't want to push it much further or he'd end up with a couple of silly penalties over it, still it's good to see some fire in the side after how they began the year. Can't let the guys like Reynolds rattle you too much though because that's what they're looking for.

I didn't really want Manu trying to latch on to a 40/60 ball to win it at the end there.

Late Sunday afternoon games, eh? Meh. When you've lost a close one there's no time to recover before you have to think about the week ahead.

Anyone think we could beat this Bulldogs side in a grand final in Sydney? Dunno ay. They might be too big and mobile, something the Warriors were once famous for.

They obviously targeted Tomkins and its nice to see a little guy like that push back.
But he really needs to turn that into form on the park, was rattled and wobbly today.

Some things that Tomkins does are really rather amateurish ridiculous tbh... I can't believe someone with so many wraps, has so many blunders in his game

Yeah it is worrying, he's a bit all over the show for someone we signed on as a 'sure thing'.
No question about his commitment and work rate, but some of the plays he comes up with are just terrible.

Anyone else notice how long Canterbury were allowed to sleep in the ruck especially early on.

Here's the thing. We were a fair way off our game. Lots of unusual drops coming out of our half, SJs passing at times was ridiculously poor yet we lost to the comp leaders by 4 and generally gave as good as we got in terms of physicality. Some of the errors were extremely basic.

Not sure of the hate on Tomkins. I thought defensively he was excellent, he nearly put Benry over early, did set Benry up for a try and was in excellent position to win the game if SJ looks inside. Admittedly there was a really dumb penalty and one loose pass, and he probably should have passed out at one point for a potential overlap. Fact remains though he assisted on a try, nearly had another, and probably should have got the opportunity to win the game

FWIW I think we will thump Gold Coast and clean up a lot of others around Origin.

I'm just a bit wary of the generally positive vibe that, despite our loss today, we're 'on the right track'.

We've had that exact same feeling in 2012 and 2013, and where did that get us?

Tomkins did also kick early in the count to no one and the Dogs easily cleaned up an attacking set from us.
I'm not saying he was awful but it was just average from a marquee player.

Absolutely, if we play this like we're easily top four material. As long as we can keep it up.
We would have beaten almost everyone else in the league today.

Today did show me how far off the pace Lousi and Mateo are, as soon as they came on everything just seemed to stop.

It's not hate - I just can't believe some of the minties moments he's come up with in a short Warriors career.

That kick on the 3rd (I think) tackle 30M out was up there, there's been 5-6 this year... Slater, Inglis, Stewart and even Hayne wouldn't do that many dumb things in a season...

Yep, positive signs - I think the Dogs dominated tbh, and without the huge efforts of Friend, Mannering and Bukuya we could have been down much more... The mistakes are not independent of the Dogs' play
