The cap may well screw us at times but it doesn't look to have here. That's pretty much our strongest team.

I wonder who woulld get picked If Hopate gets injured in SOO ?will that result in a reshuffle that sees Kelly back in or would it be Folau. (assuming a dispensation is permitted) or we might just be forced to play with 16

I know. It's disappointing that he chose to make that view public. Not exactly the way to instil confidence in players. Seems more like the way you'd prepare an excuse for another loss.

I think something needs to be said as its the fans that are missing out. Seward took this issue up in a media release last week with the NRL as its probabaly more his role than BA.

It's hardly the best position to be making the point from though is it.

Like protesting about drink driving laws when you go in to be sentenced.

You won't have any credibility, and you will likely get a worse sentence than if you copped it on the chin and apologised.

It's Ricky Stuartesque.

I wouldn't quite go that far but it's leaning more in that direction than I'd like.

When you can name a team that's that strong, what are the fans missing out on? Let Seward do the whingeing, I agree it's his role. But I don't think Arthur should have said the team named this week was 'salary-cap compliant' or whatever he called it, implying he'd have named a different team if possible. I think he's feeling the pinch a bit, as just about everyone would in that situation.

Merkins would be whinging if he didn't say anything - running with the line that Kelly should not have been dropped for Sandow or we should be picking anyone except Seffa. BA wouldn't win either way and given that there have been plenty of fans baying for transparency in selections he is giving them just that.

No qualms if you guys want to appropriate that as throwing in the towel (I just don't give a shit any more after trawling through both here and nospam07 over the last 2 weeks) but I feel it should be made clear that there was going to be complaining either way BA played his cards.

Well I snuck down and listened into Ivan and Phils weekly coffee and game plan chat.

I have heard Phil before go into extensive plans with Ivan. This week he kept it short.

He mumbled - Where playing parra- Just kick and chase and we will win. Then they all laughed and drank there coffee's....

People certainly will complain either way. I'd have preferred BA went the other way on this though, because I certainly haven't thrown in the towel and I hope they haven't either. It would have been worse for him but possibly better for the team.

Agree. Two weeks in a row the club have made their position clear about the 2nd tier cap.

Last week they said that Burrito was not selected because of the cap. A week after he scored a bunch of tries.

This week they interviewed Kelly about the great job he did last game and then were forced to play Sandow.

Seward has also provided his take on the whole saga and what he perceives as the problem and various solutions.

No winners in this scenario when you have unavailable or under performing players.

A solution needs to be nutted out by the CEOs, but as Barry said, a solution that also prevents the Roosters warehousing talent.

Just have a top 35 squad, how f**ken hard is that?

Have the minimum contract as 80k. It would only cost clubs another $400k or so ( isn't the second tier already around $400k?)

Wasn't it difficult to hear with Gould's thighs around your ears?

Alvaro is as honest as they come, but if people dont rate Mannah well......

This guy is a cheap version of Tim Mannah IMO. He tries hard and gives everything but lacks power and go forward. He will not make it as a first grader i do not think. But he does have heart so lets hope so.
He will give it 110% on friday night. There wont be a guy more keen to be out there!
The emergence of the white bear.

This.

Oh and we will be losing by 20+ this Friday.

I've got no issue with him pointing out that we are cap compliant. Maybe he would have chosen the same team anyways but it's good to lay the boot in to the NRL where you can imo.

I don't think that is correct ... once he plays a game in which the NRL hasn't given us a special dispensation to play him then his entire 2nd tier salary counts against the 2nd tier cap. From that point on we can play him as much as we want.

I guess we will find out once Gower and Lussick are both available for selection.
