I would think that as a FC member and outgoing director he probably should have made an appearance but not knowing his personal circumstance would not like to jump to conclusions.

It just makes me wonder if his heart was really into taking on the responsibilities of a director. There is no question about his desire to help the club and do what he feels will benefit the club the most and coaching will probably be a better fit.

Brett was in the bush with work committments

I acknowledge that you see what I highlighted. Did you comprehend it? The fact that nobody was there for Denis' Life Membership is neither here nor there as far as I am concerned. Nor Dennis for that matter from what I hear.
BTW.. thoughts to the Osborne family at this time.

What I comprehend is that this is either here nor there? Why did John Fenwick bring it up then?

I sincerely believe such things should be recognised, and congratulations Denis.

Very sorry for your loss with your Mum.

All I can go on is what Ray Price told me this morning, he had no knowledge of the NSWRL giving Denis Life Membership.

Thanks Terry. My mum passed away in 1976, long time ago now, but you never forget them and how loving they are. Mums are the best friend anyone can ever have, or hope to have, and to lose that love, especially at an early age is something you never get over

The Life Membership is voted on at the AGM (as Jess pointed out) by the delegates, and as I said, it would (or should) have been on the AGM Agenda sent to each Club prior to the meeting.
The Club wasn't represented, and it is too late to do anything about it now. BUT I hope that events such as AGM, general meetings etc, are not seen as 'inconsequential' - and no big deal if missed. They are...
Like governments and newspapers, we get the quality we deserve. That is why Fitzy and his board were voted out at the 2009 elections earlier this year. Democracy in action.
I make no secret of the fact that Denis is a friend of mine. I admire his work not only for the Eels, but Rugby League in general, as well as the community of Parramatta. He deserves every recognition that comes his way, and I found it hard to believe that he was not already a Life Member of the NSWRL. He has certainly earned it.
Fitzy is a Parramatta man through and through. I hope he continues to attend meetings and offer advice to the current Board. His experience would be invaluable, and I am sure Paul Osborne will use it to advantage.
I hope FItzy stays in retirement from administration and does not put himself up for election.
I would like to see him honoured by the Club the same way Alan Overton has been, ie by making him a Patron in recognition of his services as a player and administrator of this great Club. The Club would be the winner if that was to happen

personly, I think coaching is a better fit for bert and i'm told his looking forward to the challenge.

btw, i also didn't notice Dr Foong, Chris Jurd and Gary Morris at the AGM either....however I also don't know the circumstances surrounding their non appearence.

Why would you be looking for Dr Foong, she was never on the board of the FC?

I am sure "the current CEO Paul Osborne, the current Football Club Chairman Ron Hilditch, or the current Leagues Club Chairman Roy Spagnolo" would have all been informed of the meeting to take place and should have made arrangements for more than one representative to attend.

I would say that was true of Mr Osborne and Mr Hilditch, but as Mr Spagnolo is on the board of the LC and NRLC which in of its self has no affiliation to the NSWRL then no I would not expect Mr Spagnolo to have been notified.

Also as a point, the first notice we got of the AGM carried a bullet point for Life memberships, on the Agenda handed out on the day, no such bullet point was on the Agenda.

Also in the past while we have had a agenda point for Nominations for Life membership, the membership is not informed of who it is, until the day of the meeting. I believe the same is true of the NSWRL as our constitution is almost a direct copy of theirs, oh and BTW, while our membership can vote to change our constitution, it has to be approved by the NSWRL before it comes into effect.
