I'd start by limiting the number of properties that an individual can negative gear. I think the pension age stuff was inevitable, and there's plenty of lead time on that one.

I'm pretty sure brickies labourers etc can easily work until 70. I'd say it should be raised to 75.

I used to be a brickies labourer, so I speak with some authority when I say if you're not on the trowel by age 30 you probably belong in prison.

And I knew one 70 year old bricky and plenty of 60 year olds that lay bricks just fine. Also this was in the 90s before modern medicine.

Plenty of shit talkers (I learnt from some of the best) but the rule is always 'if you can't work and talk at the sane time, don't talk'. Same goes for working and smoking.

You don't need to go flat out all day but you do need to stay (and look) busy for eight hours if you want to stay employed. I left and joined the army, and the infantry was a lot easier than laying bricks.

Anyway, it sucks for old dudes working in manual labour. That's the main reason I quit while I was still young enough to do something else. Nobody ever gave a f**k about the elderly except their kids. Isn't that why we invest all that time and money into them?

But even if your kids hate you, there's plenty of better charities than the Australian government.
