Agree to disagree on politics? The main problem with the asylum seeker issue is that people treat it as a political issue.

PS. You know what shits me most about your heartless stance and KOrnstar's rant, ...
.. is the heartbreaking irony that these refugees (being political, economic, religous, or environmental) come from cultures that would welcome anyone into their homes and feed you the last of their staples. They would offer you whatever they had, because they come from a life where family and community stand head and shoulders above themselves.

I agree entirely that the rant was heartless and unhelpful.

However, to suggest that other cultures would all "welcome anyone into their homes and fed you the last of their staples" is unbelievably naive. The human condition is such that most people (irrespective of where they are from) are out for themselves. To suggest otherwise is ridiculous.

If the solution has broad bipartisan support then is it really a political issue? It seems to be more of an economic issue.

If anyone is looking for some decent tv shows then I just watched the first episode of The Strain and it was pretty good. It's a show about vampires but not the crappy twinkling kind. Comes from a graphic novel (I think) by Guillermo del Toro.

Also, have seen the first couple of episodes of Tyrant and that looks quite good, as well. Somewhat in the Homeland mould, I guess, as it deals with Middle Eastern issues.

I just finished watching Fargo. Brilliant.

Billy Bob Thornthon made a very good assassin / lunatic killer. The dude who plays Bilbo Baggins was good as the bullied pacifist turned killer too.

He had shaved his beard and they realized it was our old CEO.

Did anyone notice our team had a distinct lack of beards against the Warriors? Gower has kept his and he was our best player. We didn't have Mannah or Edwards. Paulo shaved his, same with Semi and Norman.

Meanwhile the Warriors were brimming with bearded magnificence.

Coincidence? I think not.

typical Ray, not much fun being on the receiving end but when you consider the amount that he dishes out it pretty hypocritical

From BBC World News

Australia votes to repeal carbon tax

Australia's Senate has voted to repeal the carbon tax, a levy on the 300 biggest polluters passed by the Labor Party when they were in power in 2011.

Prime Minister Tony Abbott, whose Liberal-National coalition beat Labor in an election last year, had made the repeal a central aim of his government.

Politicians have been locked in a fierce row about the tax for years.

Labor says it helps to combat climate change, but the Liberals claim it penalises legitimate businesses.

The Australian Senate voted 39 to 32 to repeal the tax, which charges the highest polluters A$23 (£13;$22.60) for every tonne of greenhouse gases they produce.

Australia is the developed world's worst polluter per head of population.

But critics, including Mr Abbott, said that the tax cost jobs and forced energy prices up.
There were widespread protests against the introduction of the tax in Australia.
The repeal of the tax formed a major part of Mr Abbot's election manifesto.
The leader of Australia's Green party, Christine Milne, said the vote against the tax was an "appalling day for Australia".

The 301st biggest polluter would be spewing they've lost their competitive advantage. Probably Gronk's company.
