Yes

I think he is wrong

But then I don't have access to the fantasy data

That isn't
I think the reason for his slump was is two fold. He was definitely reading his own press around origin and starting to believe it too.

He was also leader of the "well we've made the top 4 so there's no point to this last month" brigade.

He has been spoken to and I'd expect to see heavy improvement.

Did this happen after Roosters game or before?

Ok so I decided to have the "snoop cam" on Bird after captain's most recent comments.

I'm not sure if I got him on a bad day but something is going on. Some pretty bad defensive reads and even worse options in attack. Thankfully he won't be marking Chambers next game(I don't think) but he sure does need to get his arse into gear before the semis come.

I am more concerned with Chad then Bird, I think Bird will be fine in the finals.

Chad seems to have lost his way

I thought Chad owned Pearce on saturday night

Chad's running game has struggled 2nd half of season was taking line on more before this seems to have stopped was chance on saturday night in first half in roosters 20, but just passed it.

He needs to back himself sometimes

Yeah he definitely has stopped running the ball in this later part of the season. It may have something to do with our attack going sideways in recent weeks. I think Gal will help Chad's game immensley in the next few weeks

Did you notice Pearce give an escort all the way to Barba when Benny scored his crossed for his try.

Chad's fine.

The forwards have been getting owned. Why not pick on Maloney as well? He's been ordinary behind a beaten pack too.

Plenty of which were covering up for blokes outside him. I'd actually be thinking that if he's not there its a free pass to points

That's what makes me think he would be a good replacement for Ennis, strong defence good passing and kicking game and has a bit of speed in him

Feki has admitted publicly he couldn't defend as a centre.
Lewie is ok as a stop gap but doesn't have the speed to be a starting edge player and moving him weakens the strongest department in our existing structure.
Gagan hasn't played first grade in 2 years what makes you think he is up to it?

What exactly is meant to be gained by benching or sacking Bird? Do you think punishment and negative motivational tactics are the best way to achieve an outcome for a struggling player, particularly when so much is on the line?

Sacking a player is an extreme measure, highly risky and in this case is extremely stupid and therefore unlikely.

He's in a slump. You don't destroy a good player for a couple of dud games. Watch him come good on the big stage.

every coach at every team at some point has to make the tough decisions

i am more concerned that about the inequality of treatment amongst the players in the group based on hype

Leutele was dropped to the bench in favour of beale for much less than the form slump bird is currently in

appears our coach already engages in negative motivational tactics by your reckoning

29 missed tackles since round 19 for bird, 29!!!

there are major deficiencies on the right that need immediate attention, some of the tries scored directly on bird have well below the mark for someone who is going to sit at table and negotiate a fat contract based on being an origin player now

I agree that players who hit slumps need a chance to work their way out of it

that chance has been an passed

so whats the plan?

Questions;

How do you know there is inequality of treatment amongst the players "based on hype".
How do you know the major deficiencies as you put it are not getting immediate attention.
When did you decide the chance has been passed for him to work his way out of it?

and to put some perspective on that

he has 56 for the year

27 for the previous 18 rounds

29 for the next 6 rounds

even millers should be able to work the math on that one

what was good for the goose is not good for the gander

please compare leutele's relegation to the bench and explain to me why bird hasn't or isn't worthy of the same treatment?

Well I hope it would be and continue to be, getting the attention it requires

When did you decide the chance has been passed for him to work his way out of it?

the trend downwards on performance and defensive effectiveness, with no sight of correction

if he were stocks id be pulling all my money out, right now

Not having a go at anyone, but this whole debate is a little pointless - we all know Flanno will not drop Bird...

However, if it's true that he has been 'slacking off' for the last 4-5 weeks, that's worrying - it doesn't say much about his character.

in my opinion, our forwards are struggling to make metres with momentum, a lot of it has been the fact that the refs are letting teams lie all over us, but even at that, there is no urgency to get up and play the ball even when they do get the opportunity.

Is Tagatese that big of a loss (I think so)?
Why cant fifita just run straight for fks sake?

Because of this, our halves are rushing passes due to the defence running in on them not giving them enough time to make the plays they want, or they end up running it themselves.

Another thing I have noticed is that our back rowers on each side aren't giving our back line enough ball, choosing to run it themselves, or they get it on the fifth tackle and grubber kick (which I have to admit has been quite effective).

so all in all, our back line haven't been getting too many opportunities and when they do, it has been rushed causing them to make mistakes.

But I agree with Bird;s defence, it has been shit house to say the least.
