The Joint Venture Is Broken

Youre a fraud though, attending WTs matches in Magpies gear with your banner, supporting half the team....youre conditional - half hearted.

I can see you have passion, however misguided it may be to me....put it all into one or the other....nothing worse than a bit here, a bit there.

There are plenty of things I disagree with in the JV....but I dont go calling for other teams to benefit at the expense of my team because theres something I disagree with.

The merger has meant Wests Tigers have needed to spend up to $1 million annually to support two NSW Cup teams.

Tigers chief executive Stephen Humphreys said last night that junior development programs needed to be a higher priority than running two State Cup sides.

"In my opinion Wests Balmain and Wests Tigers spend an inordinate amount of time, money and effort on the NSW Cup, and I believe we'd all be far better off if some of that time, effort and money was redirected into the junior leagues and junior development programs," he said.

I know that this will hurt some supporters (such as alien) and I can understand where they are coming from however I think that it is pretty obvious that this had to happen and that the club has made the right decision.

Unfortunately money matters and you have to accept that. Now we are the Wests Tigers and hopefully this enables exactly what most supporters wanted - less money being spent where it is not required and being directed to areas where it is.

and what about all the people that go to the games wearing balmain jerseys or who have a banner that are only black and orange, or have the words "black and gold army"??? i guess thats ok. if people chant "tigers" its fine, but if someone chants "wests" people turn around like the person has 3 heads

I attend games in Balmain jerseys, I also attend in JV jerseys, Including the black, predominantly Wests home jersey we wore up until 2011.

I also cheer for the Tigers, and generally not Wests no. The crowd generally chants that way.

What I don't do, is call for the destruction of Western suburbs, to benefit my own team, I'm not calling for the club to be renamed Balmain & relocating FT back to the inner west.

There is a world of difference between those of us who whilst very passionate about their traditional clubs heritage within the JV but support the JV fully and recognise that the future is with all the parties working together, and those who have your attitude.

I get where you are coming from, I was once there too. Terry Lamb/Sleeve Magpies yet no mention of Balmain/A re-colored Florida Panther as the club logo/Campbelltown getting better games etc etc. Eventually I came to realise that these are petty complaints, and if I want to support a team to support, I needed to embrace the JV and realise the past is the past.

Fight for the issues that are being experienced in the Sth West, as has been said many times, no one actually disagrees with you on this. But it's time to let go of the anger toward Balmain, (misguided as it may be) & the JV and work within the JV structure to achieve the goals for your region that you want.

Seemingly there are some level headed people involved who see just that - You were specifically slapped down in your "when do we burn our WT merchandise question". You need to take heed of what they say to you.

& most of all. Wests are going to win the premiership in 2012 - Don't deny yourself the pleasure of truly enjoying the win (As I did in 2005) due to pettiness.

Yes Dillon, the man who has helped preside over the utter failure of the district in all forms of junior and senior league , is a hero.

It never ceases to amaze me who parties are willing to get into bed with and absolve blame from as long as they promise to support their cause.

FTR Wests Ashfield (that is being freed up by reduction in financial support for NSWCup) & Wests Tigers money are behind the offices in Lumeah. The first time in the districts history that their has been a one stop admin building

My only jersey is a Magpies WT heritage 05 model.

Those people might be conditional too, they also might just be honouring their past while cheering their present.....but I dont hear them calling for opponents to benefit at WTs expense.

The "Wests, wests, wests" chant is lame....the word chanted needs two syllables.

The obviously mentally geniused fella who I saw change from a WTs jersey into a Dogs jersey at a game a few years back coz we were getting done...at least he had an excuse.

And its not like theyre never called ''Wests''...I hear it in the media, not as often as "Tigers" but so fkn what?

They would train at Camp Concord yeah. Who cares.

Where would they play their home games? Not seen any detail on that.

If you actually read all the posts I've been pretty strong all along on the JV state cup side playing solely out of Campbelltown. I think that would be a huge positive.

I`ve got a lot of respect for Alien & Galahs, both are very proud & passionate about the Wests Magpies and the Campbelltown region that they live in. I certainly don`t agree with everything they say, but it all comes from the heart and I can certainly understand why they are upset about the Magpies being name slowly being wiped off map in senior rugby league circles.
I`ve come to accept that the Wests Tigers will be sole Premier League side from `2013 onwards, it still doesn`t sit real well with me either, but I can understand why it is happening and why it will be the best way forward for the Wests Tigers club that we all follow.
I was as concerned as anyone that the Campbelltown region may be ignored, but I`m quite certain that will not be the case, I`m now seeing that quite a lot of effort is starting to go into ensuring this will not be the case. I don`t think moving base from Concord to Campbelltown is needed either as long as plans are in place for plenty of the sole Wests Tigers Premier League games to be played in Campbelltown and a big focus is placed on moving towards playing more home NRL games in Campbelltown each season.
From what I can gather, I `m quite certain that both Alien & Galahs have put plenty of time & effort into supporting the Wests Tigers as well, so take my advice boys, embrace the Wests Tigers NRL side this season as it`s going to be a big one and there will be plenty of Magpie juniors in the side.
I think trying to save the Wests Magpies as a Premier League side is a lost cause, best to try and push for the Wests Tigers NRL & Premier League sides of the future, to play as many home games as possible out of Campbelltown!

Yep the club has a personal campaign against you. You're starting to sound a little paranoid.

WT don't need the money of those who don't fully support the club, so take your bat and ball and nick off back to NSW Cup.
