When you choose to rebuild a club and start blooding young players you don't expect not to be able to play your experiences players -Snowden, Mullen, Macmanus, Hodgkinson, Rochow, other players like the two Mata'utia's Chanel and Peter, Mamo. Its a rather large injury toll and when you trying to rebuild a roster you need everything to go right. The Knights have used 31 players so far this year after only ten rounds. Take the top five players and couple of others out a club and how would you expect any team perform.
So in reality, you are building a team from scratch you can't afford to have such a large injury toll. Just makes the problem worst. So the Knights are in the position in which the left side centre Pat Mata'utai for one needs to be dropped but the knights have got no one to replace him with.
The knights main problem is the structure and technique used in defence ( Its been like that for the last 10 to 15 years). No shoulders if defence , slide and not commit, grab on and then be carried ten metres before stopping the player. They have never been good at the wrestle, so why try - put them on the deck and limit the time they have the ball , a la walker bros.
In attack, more direct, run harder and use the ball when you do create the space.
The effort by the Knights is there, with smarter coaching and a smarter style of football (like driving the ball at the sideline from kick offs and getting the feed -happened today) they can improve and limit the damage.
It needs Brown to be braver as a coach and play a different style of football- If you keep doing what you are currently doing when every other team is better at it, you not going to win.
