Another opinion MITS of the way people feel, or as you put it - a cop out.
Instead of trying to defend the club as you do, suggest to them that they get on here and read these threads before the election.
On the other hand, maybe it's too late to change the opinions of some.
Suity
No Suity, you firstly rolled out their opinions as "Facts" but in reality all these people are saying is that they want more from their club then they are getting and pointing to conspiracy theroies as to why things are the way they are which is also the impediment to their request. To me, yep they are a cop out.
Raudonikis's message again talk about this mythical agenda. I would love for someone to tell me what it is. I believe everyone thinks it is to make as much money for the Directors as possible and to never lose their jobs while the Parramatta club flounders year after year.
Do the clubs Directors and CEO have an agenda, I can say with certainty that they do. It is to make Parramatta the best club going in the NRL. In every way possible, and to do so responsibly.
During this thread, the continued approach is that it should be easy to get in, change the club and get out. That is something I wholly disagree with. It should be hard. It should be difficult. You should have to actually do more then pay $25 dollars to convince everyone that your right and things should change. You need to come up with a convincing reason, and an alternative. Merely pointing to the problem and having a sook won't get things changed, nor should it.
Does the club structure make it overly hard. To some, maybe. I personally don't believe so. I know how to push for change when I want it, I have done so in the past.
The overarching theme of the Truckies push for the removal of Fitzgerald, as well as according to Terry Leabeaters letter for change is to see the club continue. Fitzgerald article in April this year has zapped the hope out of Parramatta's supporters and along with the performance this year, have raised causes for change out of concern the club may fold or *gulp* merge. Most here would agree with the actual fact that the clubs communications with its fans and supporters has been poor. The Last really well communicated piece of information came at the 2007 AGM with Fitzgerald's speech. I had an opportunity to speak with Denis about this concern, and that was my main point, increase communication and give the fans clear path for the future that we can all strive and work toward.
If that happens or not, who knows. I am of the opinion it will.
The issues we speak about, I wonder in reality how big they are with the supporter base outside this small 100 or so regular contributors on this site.
Do you think with the Season Ticket Holders that having the NRL campaign being called Membership and the Club selling Season ticket's matters that much to them?
Do you think the Proxy voting for the 669 members of the football club rates a mention at the members kitchen tables?
Do you honestly think club structure at Parramatta concerns the bloke working construction, when he is on the job? Or even better when he is at home watching a Parramatta game?
I don't think so. What I think they are concerned about is having a successful Parramatta Eels club, which can deliver the glory they so desperately seek.
I was once told when I spoke about the semantics of the Parramatta NRL / District Club Structure that 99% of eels fans don't give a sh*t about it. All they care about is winning a first grade premiership. That is a nice goal, something we all want in the massive church that is the Parramatta Eels. But there are other activities they club participates in and I am concerned with those as well. Others may say they are as well but don't see them coming before a First Grade Premiership. Which I also agree with.
Now if you all think, changing the name of season tickets and having them offered from the football club, so as you can all vote is going to win us a first grade competition, I think you have another thing coming.
I also think that if you believe winning a first grade premiership will happen if we allow proxy votes, for football club members, I again think you have another thing coming.
If you think the club structure which was in place for 2001 and 2005 is the impediment to our premiership success, again I think you have another thing coming.
Lastly if you believe the reason for our lack of a premiership is because, of the CEO and the Board of directors. You certainly are within your rights to think it. But what happens if we do win a premiership? Will you congratulate the board, or will you congratulate the players. What will you do then when the Election comes. Will you see change for change's sake.
Suity, I know a few members of the board do read what happens on this site from time to time. I have heard tell from one of them that read the Join the Parramatta Club thread after the AGM to see the reaction to my report. During his reading there were some allegations made on this site about Denis Fitzgerald and children. So I guess you can see what sort of opinion this message board would be held in after that.
