I wonder if the three year rule was in when fitzy stacked the club membership with his mates in the 70s to get on the board??

In all fairness, footy club membership is not well known to the average fan. Not like the club promotes it, and other than the guys at LU getting out there and spreading the word, how else would some of us know if we could join up or not??

Either way, no they aren't eligible to vote, BUT maybe they thought that if they turn up and show that they are passionate enough about it, it may turn some voting member's heads.

I've said on many occasions the club should be doing more to promote the various types of membership and rules around these, as well as be more open and communicative about their governance, and seeking to get more people involved.

I agree totally.

Sorry Bart, but you have done nothing to convince me over the past week or two that your views are anything but elitist. It started off with spelling, and is continuing on with an ignorance theme.

Fair enough if that is your view. I haven't been trying to convince anyone of anything to be honest. Just stating my view, and responding to criticisms and questions.

I still would not attend a rally if the promotional material contained misspellings in the key words, because to me that simply indicates a lack of organisation, and therefore a probable lack of effectiveness. As I said on page 2 of the other thread, if that makes me elitist in some people's eyes then so be it. But at its simplest it was just part of my own criteria regarding involvement in causes and actions.

While i respect your views bart.Perhaps the fact they can not vote is even more reason to attend the rally as it gave them the opportunity to have a voice. The rules of waiting 3 years is a crazy one

Penrith have it if you pay an extra 5 or so bucks you can vote?

I agree that the club should be much more proactive regarding it's memberships, and how people can be part of contributing and participating in the club. Announcing details about membership at games, having something (anything) on a website about it, handing out brochures at games, the list goes on and on... and it shouldn't just be about selling the dodgy Blue & Gold Army merchandise "memberships" and leaving it at that.

They need some waiting period I think. Three years with annual Elections seems somewhat excessive. But now they are switching to two year elections it kind of seems a bit more acceptable. I'd be happy with a reduction to two years, a bit hesitant now with elections spread out to two years if the waiting time was reduced to one.

I would think that the 3 year rule is necessary to prevent branch stacking. Having said that I would think that Season Ticket Holders should be granted automatic membership of the football club and voting rights (if they have been a STH for 3 years standing or longer).

I agree totally with the STH thing.... if you are willing to pay that money than you should have mebership of the club. This has been another thing the club have distanced themselves on in the past as well, in regard to the publicity of the past few seasons where the NRL has pushed membership.

I 100% agree. Being a renewable STH should give you voting rights to the management of the football club.

Especially in a time when Pokie rev is no longer the key driving factor for survival. STH is the number 1 priority to ensure growth in rev via gate takes and more importantly Advertisement.

It does sound like a great idea doesn't it! But when you purchase your season ticket you are doing so from the Parramatta NRL club, I can't see a way for them to give membership to the Parramatta District Rugby League Club.

Hench there is the problem MITS, the 2 should be one. Surley the Leagues club could underwrite them to make sure wages are paid etc.?
