No. I've always said get someone like Hynes - a ready made proven star - and let the juniors fight it out for a spot in the NRL.
Making one good signing to replace either Dufty or Norman is not beyond the realms of possibility. Especially when they are all quite versatile
We are so scared of having it all at this club that even the supporters are resigned to the one or the other mentality. That's what gets us nowhere. Bennett came in and said "I'll have this, I'll have that and give me this." And shock horror we were a better team.
Given we've signed no body to replace our 1 and 6, yes, let's blood these boys and see what we are working with. Let's not be scared of having too much talent. Best teams have depth.
Again sounds great in theory but what about the salary cap? If we sign someone external and then have a range of juniors on the books

Whether you've said it before or not doesn't change the fact that the choice we face is either promote youth or sign exeternal talent for players in the same positions.
Do you really think Sloane, Amone and Sullivan, all of whom are being blooded to first grade, would be happy to play ressies hoping that Hynes gets an injury so they get a chance? They would go looking for opportunities elsewhere and who could blame them?
The way to build depth is to have a mixture of youth/experience and youngsters/external talent. At the end of the day there is also a salary cup and having 3 blokes who can all cover one position (2 of them in ressies) is arguably not an example of good cap management.
On Bennett, there was no long term plan and he inherited a side of experienced players who had come through our system under the previous coach and had turned in to superstars. He got the best out of the playing group but the work had largely been done and our premiership window was open, the current situation is not at all comparable with 2008/2009/2010/2011.
