No
the ARLC better not except the first bid from nine even if its a 1billion. they must take it to the mark.. make nine shit themself
They won't. It's going to auction.
Browne sounds like BunniesMan - "We got this"
4 months later...
"Channel 10 Secure NRL TV Rights"
Yep.
What sort of effect would a comment like Browne's have on the negotiations? To me it says Nine are desperate and will pay whatever it takes to retain the rights. This would lead to Seven and Ten increasing their bids to push Nine further and further. Nine might keep the rights but at a significantly higher cost.
i agree
only recently he said he didn't do his talking in the paper. that was after Ten said tey want it all
Both correct.
This guy is born and bred AFL, he was the lawyer for 20 odd years. First he set the gears of their last broadcast deal in motion then conveniently was hired at 9. Hmm... any guesses who put his name as the top contender...
This is all a good sign that the pressure is getting to 9. This is going to be a drag em out bare knuckle fight to the death and the loser will be relegated to 3rd place for the next five years.
If they know that they have to grow the game, why haven't they done for the past 20 years?
Here's how they've built the brand of rugby league thus far -
* Have more AFL related shows on their network
* Bare minimum network advertising of NRL
* Last minute/unpublicised programming changes
* Lack of promised HD & 3D coverage
* Breaking the law and broadcasting games after midnight in Melbourne
* Blacking out the game in Tasmania, South Australia and Western Australia
* Delaying games and cutting off pre-game and post-game coverage
* Denying certain clubs FTA coverage and favouring others undeservedly...
* Shifting Super League to post-midnight
* Lying about being unable to get exemptions to show games on digital channels
Channel 9 does rugby league best..........
