WTF is the go with Moltzen not returning phone calls? How f*cking childish is he!? Well done Timmayyy, that's REAL professional! Imagine if we dealt with our employers like that!!

I love how some of these guys in the NRL try to demand more and more dollars, yet display ZERO professionalism off the field.

I hope his contract with us becomes registered, then Steve Price banishes him to park football.

What a f*cking wanker!
He's on holiday in the US, unless he's got roaming access on his mobile, he's uncontactable.

Find out a few facts before you make statements like the above. You're the f*cking wanker.

I am led to believe Australian phones dont work in US. But he should have gmail. I also want to applaude Peter Doust for his manner of handling this matter. The Tigers are going against the common practice when players are given permission to negotiate with other clubs whilst still under contract.
The NRL does not need people like Humphreys involved in the game if this is his MO.

Schubert to referee tug-of-war over Moltzen as clubs stand firm

Glenn Jackson

October 14, 2011

SALARY cap auditor Ian Schubert will become the key player in the stand-off over the contract of Wests Tigers fullback Tim Moltzen.
NRL officials confirmed yesterday that the administration was now investigating the duel between the Tigers and St George Illawarra, who had signed the 23-year-old to a three-year deal starting next year only for the Tigers to refuse to release him.
Both clubs refuse to budge over the issue, and Schubert will now become the referee. He is likely to speak with Dragons and Tigers officials, Moltzen and his manager, Martin Tauber, in order to make a determination.

So if Schubert has been nominated by the NRL to be the referee in all of this, do they view it as more of a salary cap issue for the Tigers if they want to keep him, rather than a contractual dispute possibly playing out in our favour?

If this is so, then they must think that we don't really have a case due to there being no written release obtained prior to him "signing" with us.

For them to win in Schubert's eyes surely they would have to simultaneously release a player or 2 to stay under the cap, or pay Moltzen peanuts to stay a Tiger.

I hope Doust stands his ground on this one. We deserve some kind of compensation if done over on a technicality.

Who the hell doesn't have global roaming on their phone while overseas anymore? Especially someone who is on over $150k/year

i think its more of a case of extra "buck passing" by the NRL... Gallop - "jeez i really couldn't be bothered with this... lets throw this one to Schubert to sort... he's got nothing on his plate at the moment.."
classic delegation by inept leadership..

I believe it would be more of a case that Schubert would be the one who has most expertise looking at, reviewing and understanding contracts and knowing the protocols of how contracts are signed etc.

Ppl having a go at Gallop here are kidding themselves. He is the CEO of the league, not the guy who would sort out a contractual dispute between two clubs and a player. He has people that are employed to to that for him.

My CEO certainly wouldn't look into something like this - he has ppl (CFO, HR, etc) to do that.

Gallop might be called in to make a final ruling, but not the initial investigation.

Statement From Dragons CEO Peter Doust
Our suspicions were raised earlier last week when both Martin Tauber and Tim Moltzen did not return phone calls to Dragons staff .

Sounds like Doust has Moltzens number in more ways than one:shock:

Besides everybody these days wanders off when they sign massive deals worth hundreds of thousands of dollars with a new employer without even checking to see whats going on . And yet still manage to convey to their old employer and friends that they want to stay. Everyone believes that just like they know I'm a porn star.

Get off the forum answer your phone and stop disrespecting everyone You F**KING wanker:lol:

i would have thought they would have got their legal team to look at it - not the financial auditor?

Their legal team probably charge $1500 an hour, while Schubert has nothing to do until someone else gives him another club's secret black book

I would have thought Schubert would be like a mediator . He is just an independent mind looking at the dispute. He obviously knows the business. The Nrl will want the clubs to agree. He can tell them what hd thinks but ultimately there is the courts above any process the Nrl has. The courts can't order moltzen to play for a club . But theoretically they could order him to pay damages . Both clubs could also theoretically be up for inducing a breach of contract. I don't know how strong either clubs case would be.

I have been in a lot of mediations. Assuming molts does not want to go to st George i think that Schubert would say to the dragons " look you don't want a player who does nt want to play but yes you have been stuffed around you relied on the contract molts signed and you signing go
Meant you did nt go for other players who were available and who no longer are"

To the tigers he will say "you have not released hi
But you told him to look around and he did that. Whilst you put out a media release straight after molts signed for saints saying he was not released your position had not been clear. But yes you have nt released him and he is signed for you for 2012"

Then he'd say ok so we want to make everyone happy. Tim you can either get over it and go to saints or stay at the tigers but tigers/tim you need to compensate the dragons for being stuffed round. Everyone will be a winner. Molts and tigers get each other and saints get compensation and don't lose face. What the compensation will be is another issue. Money or players or both

Schubert is high enough in the NRL and he has his own staff, so it just hasn't been handed to some desk clerk. Personally, I'm surprised that it has gone that high. When you look at it without the Humphreys dramatics, it's really not that big a deal.
