but then again if he's fit for most of the season it'll go along way towards us making the finals next year

I disagree with a previous post saying Taia wouldn't be a big signing.

Is there any other player in the NRL who is an ex-Eel playing better than Zeb has for the past season and a half?

I'd rate him right up, possibly even in the top 5 attacking second rowers in the comp!

Richard Fa'aoso, who unfortunately has re-signed and extended his contract with the Knights. But Zeb would be a very good signing too if we get him back. But Fa'aoso is absolutely braining it.

Is it OK for Cayless to leave ? He deserves a comp too doesn't he ?

I don't want him to leave. His form this year has been good. He deserves to be rewarded next year on his back ended deal. To be honest I would even re-sign him beyond 2010 for about $250K.

I think we would be foolish to let a player like Luke Burt go tbh. While he is not flashy, he is very experienced, gets the job done and can cover a few positions. I'd rather them use him as the bench utility.. similar to how Bennett was using Nightingale.

1. Hayne
2. Inu
3. Reddy
4. Tahu
5. Grothe
6. Mortimer
7. Kris Keating
13. Mateo
12. Shackelton
11. Hindmarsh
10. Poore
9. Matt Keating
8. Cayless

14. Burt
15. Mannah
16. FFMM
17. TBA

I still think Inu can make an outstanding centre - his hits in defense are good and better suited to centre than wing .... imagine if Tahu can come back and start hitting in defense like he did before he left and now Inu is pulling off a few screamers on the other side - oppositions would be scared to go wide for fear of being hammered

I havent read all 27 pages of comments, so, if someone has already commented on this - sorry.

First of all, I had been hoping for this since he left the club - I celebrated with a few beers last night!

I watched the rugby this year with much interest - especially when T was playing - and had continued to tell my rugby mad mates, how good a player he was.
My concern's over the season were his ongoing injuries (as recently as a couple of weeks ago, he pulled out of a West Harbour game due to a hamstring strain) & his apparent increase in weight or bulk. Not knowing him personally, I cant ask him if it is weight or muscle, but, when he was in action on the field, he certainly wasnt the lean, mean, fighting machine that I remembered for Parra.

I have some mates that play for Gordon, and they have suggested that he has bulked up - so, I suppose that is a good thing, but, imo, it seemed to take a way a bit of his brilliance. (I hope it is just his inability to really convert to rugby, that made it look like the brilliance was gone)

Others thoughts?

Everyone seems to be shifting INU! to the wing in their 2010 teams. I think it's a big mistake. Reddy would be shifting to wing if I had the clipboard.

His arse has certainly grown. The Tahs put him on the same hammy rehab program as they did for Rocky Elsom and his glutes now rivals Joey Johns. OK, not that big. ;-)

He won't have much footy to play for the rest of the year, save a few games for the Pirates and it remains to be seen if Aussie Robbie will take him to South Africa, Wellington and Tokyo as he is currently part of the Wallaby Tri-Nations squad.

He'll have plenty of time to trim down if need be.

reddy brings consistency, inu breaks games. tahu can become a beacon for krisnan's career, good options to have regardless

Inu and Tahu had a great combination. Inu hasn't been the same since he left IMO

Reddy is NOT a winger. Inu is a more suitable winger than Reddy - especially with T inside him. If Burt stays, I am not quite sure where this leaves Joel.

With regards to the Tim Smith debate - everyone should get a grip. If he plays crap, he will play for Wenty - DA will not accept mediocrity. I don't think he would cost too much tbh so it may not be a bad investment.
DA will improve his game so much.

Probably better to put him on a wenty contract first (timmy). Robson on the $55k since there is no one else around

Then it's match payments to 2011's cap if he does play NRL. If that's the case, we win because he is playing well enough to stay in the NRL.

If not, then it is a wenty contract. Do they have a salary cap too?

I think the halves combo is for KK/Morts to lose.

They should start and with that PACK, that BENCH and that BACKLINE, and we are still losing, then the problems in the halves.

It might resurrect the old Smith/Mateo combo in the junior grades.

KK/Morts have done well. But they are very early in their careers and once the opposition start looking at them like they did Smith in his 2nd year, they could struggle.

DA's ASS is on the line next year if you ask me.

With that TALENT. A Top 3 should be by default. And if not, well, who's fault would it be?

I would not say HAGES.
