Time for Moylan to 5/8

Moylans decision making is miles ahead of Cartwright atm he would be a big plus at 6 just for that reason. Even in a good performance Cartwright managed to ruin 2 or 3 really good attacking chances with bad plays, as we have seen previously this year in close games they cost you, its the same as an error at the other end. As for TMM he is currently a solid reserve grader so he isn't in the conversation atm, he needs to have some really good games in reserve grade before coming back onto contention. Moylan is a significant upgrade over both at 5/8th right now.

Im not expecting him to be moved right now going into the finals run but if we had of done it weeks ago we could have all of these questions answered by now in regards to can we cover Moylan at FB, can Moylan handle the defensive workload and Cartwright would be playing his natural position instead f**king around each week trying to create and coming up with shit before reverting to that natural game.

I realise not everyone agrees with Moylan to 6 but i cant cop people not admitting we wasted half a year that Matty could have played 6. We would know exactly where we are

Exactly, even I would be reluctant to move him now considering the form of our backup FBs but we have had weeks of Cartwright at 6 and everyone knows he has no future there.

Then who plays fullback?

We already have Whare, Hiku, Soward, Segeyaro, McKendry and Taylor all missing from what was our top 17 come round 1.

With Cartwright at 6 we have won 7 lost 4. when Moylan hasn't played we are 1 win 5 losses. Even the game we won Will Smith kept dropping kicks. We would still had those drops which cancels out the gains made with Moylan in 6

what changed with our FB's? Moylan missed the start of the season ideally we would of had Will Smith firing and then Moylan imo would of played 6

DWZ should have played fullback and been told you have half a year in your actual position to prove you belong here. Hardaker could have then played wing. This way we would know a LOT more about our squad

I reckon ideal way to manage it would have been to run DWZ at the start of the year at the back. Wallace and Soward start in the halves. We get four or five weeks to see what DWZ has at the back before Moylan is even back in the equation. With two halves we were looking to move out of the halves (and as it turned out Wallace moving to hooker) we could have brought Moylan straight into the halves of DWZ had impressed or revert to Moylan at fullback. Or if we wanted to check out Martin first Moylan to fullback, now we know what options we have at the back. Fast forward and Martin is injured, we get to try Moylan at fullback knowing DWZ can handle it. If he can't you just give Edwards his shot. Then we could have been sitting here with a much better idea of what we should be doing.

I think the fact is though that we don't and as a result, I think the option of least disruption going into the pointy end is Martin to five eighth. At the very worst it leaves Cartwright to do his thing on the edge, improves our defence and Cleary and Moylan continue to build on the attacking structure they've been working on the last 10 weeks. I hope Moylan to five eighth isn't over but i think it has to wait another year

Well Said Maple & Franklin...

We move Moylan who is going to play Fullback? DWZ should be in reserve grade, Edwards has played 1 game, and we potentially lose TMM.

We are going to lose one of them anyway. I'm not convinced TMM is a better choice to keep than Moylan.

TMM has a long way to go to prove he is a better option than Moylan.

Yeah he has struggled this year but he looked very good last season when he got a few games at FB, safe as houses and string kick returns etc certainly worth another shot.

one option nobody has mentioned is Waqa to fullback. I know all about his hands but I think he would make a great fullback if he could sort them out. He is big fast strong and a good defender, not the best passer of the ball but that may improve.

Oh, help! I just had a Neil Baker flashback. The ball goes in the air, the Panther's fans cross themselves and pray to god, any god, all gods. If you take the "L" out of Blake and add an "R" you get Baker. Coincidence? Hmm, has anybody seen them in the same place? Thought not........

Waqa would likely be strong in many areas. He's not afraid to contest kicks and he is probably our most powerful back.

But he doesn't have a footy brain. He's still learning how to be a good centre and just how capable he is when he backs himself.

Dylan Edwards looks the goods. He seems to be more of a complete player than the other options. Sure he lacks experience. But not long ago Nathan Cleary was an Under 20s player who no one would have backed to be in first grade this year.

Fullback is the easiest spine position for rookies to make an immediate impact. Probably even moreso for Edwards given his experience running off Cleary in the Under 20s.

Sadly hes not going to get a run again this year. Not with Hardaker here. I was excited for what he could offer. But the jump from super league to NRL seems harder for backs. Under 20s players are more ready then them.

I will be disappointed if DWZ ends up leaving the club without getting a real crack at fullback. He might not be in great form now but he has shown enough I think in his 2 or 3 years in first grade to suggest he could be a very good running fullback.

DWZ as our last line of defence fills me with fear. He'd be great if only he could tackle. And if he was quite a bit faster.

I wonder if Sauce might come under consideration.
