Time for Moylan to 5/8

I didn't say he was impeccable - just better than DWZ and likely the best we have in the club. The main point was Moylan at 1 and Carty at 6 being better for the team than Moylan at 6 and DWZ (or anyone else we have) at 1.

Our back three Moylan, Mansour & DWZ have been very, very good in our recent good form and while Cartwright isn't your ideal 5/8 you wouldn't be making any changes at this stage of the season.

Barring unforseen injuries we will almost certainly start 2017 with Moylan, Mansour and DWZ as the back three and the only change will be TMM into the number 6.

With the current spine we are 7 from 9, averaging over 30 points whereas with any other combination the average is less than 20.

In the nine games this spine has played, the addition of their tries and try assists vs their errors. Though the error stat is poor in showing the big picture.

Cartwright 9 v 6
Moylan 9 v 8
Cleary 8 v 4
Wallace 6 v 6
A snapshot of the contribution to our point scoring in what has been a high scoring period. NRL Stats has been generous to Cleary and given him a bonus try assist in last night's game.

In the last five games only Wallace has made more than the one error, and just the once.

Also worth noting in our loss against the Warriors not one of our spine had a try or try assist, and everyone had an error besides Cartwright.

obviously changes this year aren't going to happen , but next year the no.6 should be whoever performs best there in preseason & training.

I sincerely hope griffin doesn't have a closed mind about who will play there next year , TMM has done nothing worthy of securing the spot and we need back up options if a half gets injured , Cartwright shouldn't be it again.

Its going to come down to Edwards v TMM. Only 1 can stay at the club
I dont think so. TMM could be a utility. Edwards could be a winger. Throw in injuries and a backup player could have a regular gig.

Look at Waqa Blake... he's not part of our top 17 but has played nearly every game since his debut simply because of injuries to players in his position.

We should not be able to afford TMM and Cleary as it is if Cleary continues and TMM is as good as everyone is certain he is.

We'd be like the Storm with three superstar spine players, but with Cartwright, Merrin, Tamou and Mansour who are all worth way above the average for their position.

We have TMM and Cleary signed before they are proven.

Cleary is already locked up longterm. TMM is certainly a player with huge potential. But his injury really set him back alot. He doesnt look to be forcing his way back in this year.

Blake is now a genuine first grader. I'll be astounded if a way isn't found of playing him in the top side when the injured players return next year.

And a drops quite a few of those. He's not horrible but he's far from safe

Is this even true? Whens the last time he dropped one? In origin? Moylan is pretty safe the under balls imo though I might be missing some of his drops.

The same argument can be made for keeping Moylan at Fullback.

Just because other teams have strong kick returners in the #1 doesn't mean we should. Players aren't cookie cut outs that have to play the same way.

I've said just the other day Moylan is a very good fullback and we would be fine with him there his whole career I don't have an issue with how he plays.

My arguments for moving Moylan are that I think its obvious he can be a great half if he is allowed to just focus on that as his strengths are what you look for in great halves and also I think if we don't play him in the halves another team will offer it too him and we will take that opportunity. I don't have any issue with how he plays at FB other than his defence. Though I do think having a FB who is so ball dominant and plays like a half is a good thing while we have young inexperienced halves or a backrower filling in, Im worried as Cleary and TMM develop it might not be such a good thing.

It's not hard to understand and dismiss the argument as it's just wrong and moronic.

He isn't going to play 5/8th his entire career Chris so where should he play next year? Lock? That would be a great use of his talents having him tackle props 30 times a game.

He said himself just the other day he preferred position is backrow. SBW played on an edge with a license to roam over the field and it worked pretty well for him so I am pretty sure we can make it work with Bryce.

Does it really matter what number is on the back of Moylan or Cartwright??
Obviously what they are doing right now is working. Why change it????They are wearing a number on their back but not really playing a traditional role.

If Moylan was wearing the 14 jersey and starting the game you would not know what position he is playing. It shifts around so much.

Same with Cartwright. How often in the NRL do you see a number 6 cart the ball up the middle of the ruck?

How dare you come on here spouting such common sense. We are trying to have an argument here and there is no room for this sort of "tell it like it is" home truth. Honestly, some people.........
