Played Melbourne 7 times in the finals for 0 wins.
f**ken merkins.
I have attended 3 of those losses.

1999, 2007 & 2009.

After 2007 when Mum and Dad took us kids down to Melbourne as i was 13 at the time we have given Melbourne a wide berth for finals down there.

It was a shocker of a day we almost missed the plane and then we had some Melbourne fan start a fight in the bay across with Parra fans and got marched out of the ground.

That day the game we played them in the indoor stadium as well at Docklands what a shithole of a ground to watch RL from.

I think AAMI Park would be a lot better to watch RL but i haven't been there yet to see a game. I am sure some on here have been there. Its probably a poorer version of Commbank

I was at the '99 and '09 games.
Very sad coming out of '99, was ok after '09 because I never thought we would win.

I believe all the rest of our finals games against them have been in Melbourne. That says it all that they always get home ground advantage. They are always the better team.

Now, as we are playing the Scumdogs this weekend I will have to bring up the '09 preliminary final. One of the best games I have ever been to. Had a great atmosphere (even at that hole of a stadium at Homebush) and the non-scummy team won!

I f**ken hate the Dogs.

Outside of 2009 Prelim final i dont think i have had many other great experiences at that dump atteneding Homebush.

From freezing & pissing down rain Origin games to GF, Semi final & prelim final losses to getting thumped by the Bulldogs 2 years ago when they were stone dead last with an interim coach.

I cant think of any other games that i have walked away Happy from Homebush.

Maybe the Joey Johns 2005 comeback game in Origin was a great game but other then those 2 i cant recall many memorable experiences at Homebush.

Especially as we used to take 2 home games there for a decade before the stadium rebuild. We always seem to lose those games as well.

AAMI Park is actually a good ground to watch RL, Ive seen the Eels there twice, one win, one loss. You're fairly close to the action, but I still rate Commbank better.

I went to the games in 1999, 2009 and 2017 at AAMI Park. Honestly there were some dodgy calls in the game and we only lost by 2 points. The Storm was so dominant that year beating teams quite connivingly but we were the only ones that challenged them in the back end of the season.

1999, I dont know how they lost that. 2009 beaten by the cheats. Atmosphere and build up was great, I was happy they got themselves back in the game but still dirty by that penalty in the end.

That night is easily one of my happiest moments in my life and was too young to remember the 1986 Grand Final.

I mean that whole period of the winning streak, finals. I came back from a great Europe trip and saw the Eels thump Warriors, Knights, Panthers and was just gobsmacked of how things turned around from the time I left in June that year.

The Titans semi was great because there were so many that travelled to the SFS and once we knew the result was over, about 20,000 was chanting "Bring on the Bulldogs".

That Bulldogs preliminary final was amazing. Biggest ever Preliminary Final crowd. We were outsiders, the Bulldogs fans thought they were going to smash us after Hayne was on report, Morris scored that try, Hannant hit Moi Moi but I could sense if the Eels scored one just after the break, maybe things would change and they certainly did.

If a player deserves so much wrap in that game its Jeff Robson. He was brilliant in that game for a bloke who barely played first grade, really stepped up in one of the biggest games.

I still get goosebumps in that last try from Mortimer, started with that Moi Moi run and Luke Burt running down the sideline. I was just full of emotion, shock and then jumped for joy, knocking the blokes beer out of his hand, sorry mate, but he didnt care lol

Most of us still had those demons of 1998 but when it was about 3 minutes to go, things were starting to sink in.

I wish I could relive that night.

I fear for this next game. We've had our dead cat bounce last week...

We've been inconsistent with Gutho and Moses (and even Hands) in the side throughout 2023 and 2024. And I think the Dogs might edge us on Monday.

I think we will win easily.

We have way more strike then what they do. We beat them earlier in the year and the dogs had a better side on the park then they do now.

There missing Kikau and Addo-Carr.

Moses will want to make a statement like he did in this game last year to the selectors.

A lot of the players have reposted Gutho's 200 caption on instagram the club made yesterday i sense a big performance.

I think it will be a 24-12 or 30-18 type of game.

And Reedy will go 0-4 against us since he left.

How sweet would that be!!
I am interested what happens this week with Reed and who targets.

He has really upped the ante with the niggle this year especially since the dogs started winning.

Now he tried it last year against us and it backfired miserably at Commbank in fact i would go and say its the worse game i have seen him play but also an ex Eel player play against us in my life.

He has been pretty tame in the next 2 games he played us and we have kept him in check.

But we haven't played them since Round 1 and the dogs have more spring in there step now and Reed as i say has upped the niggle x 100 since then.

May the better team win!

Round 1 we defended so much and had no territory, it cost us in the end along with some shocking errors and literally no luck! I walked away from round 1 confident we'd make the 8 though.

Hope to see a lot of Parramatta fans on Monday, our two clubs are arguably the most supported in NSW let's hope a big crowd is on hand!
