None will sign especially not Robben but if modric is worth £40m+ Robben is €100m
just to start a negotiation

I would laugh if it happened though, Europa league for Robben  dude wanted out if we missed cl

you guys think you have prestige on the Europe stage

 Which one of us said that? Stop pulling crap out of you're arse, it's obvious it is all made of sh*t.

That was my inclination to be honest, we already have one of the best midfields in the competition, there's really not much more we can do to improve it without spending big, unnecessary money. Strikers I can understand, personally I would keep Pavlyuchenko and sell the rest, and if we get Vucinic (who I think will be a very good signing) and Leandro, then we are looking pretty good for next year.

I would still rather we signed another top-quality striker like Benzema, I'd imagine he wouldn't be too expensive if Real are looking to offload him. I would ideally have Benzema starting and Vucinic playing as a bench forward, and interchanging them for different games. If we have money to spend we may as well use it.

What I'm surprised about is that none of those "hot names" are defenders, that is really quite strange. No doubt our strike force is the first priority, but gee, I think we need maybe one very good fullback and one very good centre-back along with the new strikers, some depth signings and we should be set. Assuming of course we have that much money.

fullbacks are not a problem, we got Rose as back up for BAE and Walker will probably take the right fb job off Corluka as his form while out on loan was very good, he even got picked for England

centre back are King, Dawson, Gallas, Kaboom and Bassong, not too shabby but harry does want to add another one to our squad

our strikers have been shit in our trial games so nothing has really changed up front

By the way when you say "hot names" I am assuming you mean players who are of a high calibre but not world class?

Yeah good point, I think in the fullbacks we've got Hutton, Corluka, Assou-Ekotto, Rose, Walker and Naughton? I saw Walker's goal for Aston Villa last season, damn it was good. Good to hear on that front.
Yeah I think centre-back is the one position that if we are going to sign a "star" player like for example when we bought VDV for our midfield, then we should go there (aside from strikers).

With our strikers in the trial games, are Defoe, Crouch and Pavlyuchenko still the strikers? I mean aside from Crouch they are prett good strikers, Defoe is a regular in the England team FFS. None of them are playing well at the moment unfortunately.

Very interesting, because Vucinic is a pretty darn good player from what I've read.
On the Robben front, I agree with TT that if Modders is worth 40mil then Robben would be worth 100mil, no way we would be able to afford him. Also doesn't make any sense because, like previously, we have Lennon and Bale on the wings.

You have me very excited now :) thanks for sharing, hopefully we can pull one or two off. Vucinic is a good start.

On another note, for those who didn't know we beat Orlando Pirates in the final 3-0. VDV got a double and Defoe scored the third. Good to see that VDV is looking good in the pre-season, I'm thinking with a full pre-season under his belt here he will be even better than he was last year - which is scary considering he was one of the Premier League's best last season.
Interestingly, Modric captained us twice in the three-game pre-season in South Africa. I guess Dawson wasn't playing in either match?

Hutton is off and Naughton will probably be sold or sent out on loan, he's not up to it.

Dawson didn't play, we played Bassong, Kaboom and Khumalo. Khumalo is also going out on loan for the season.

I dont recall anyone saying that.

I dont know where all this Robben stuff came from, no truth in it at all. We have spoken to Marko Marin but I'm not sure how seriously as he plays in the same position as Bale.

I'm sure some of these journos just pick this stuff up from some nuffies Twitter.

Sorry, pirate juice last night.

It's a hilarious read, the guy didn't even quote unnamed sources it was quite the bed time story.

So Modders will definitely stay? Harry's comments after the Pirates game sound more like Modric does want to go to Chelsea, but Harry did we are confident of keeping him.

By the way, is Llorente still a target? Have we missed out on Leandro, or just until January? If we have signed Vucinic and we are still chasing strikers, I am guessing Vucinic will not be our marquee striker?

fee of €12.5 mill accepted by Roma for Mirko Vucinic, personal terms being sorted and medical expected early next week

never seen the guy play

Dos Santos fee agreed with Undies (€8 mill) but he wants to go to Seville, Undies have offered him higher wagers and CL footy but he speaks Spanish and he dont want to go to Italy

A bit more action expected over the next week or so as well

I'm a bit late here, but there is no way we have accepted a bid of €12.5. We want €20 for him.

Quality player, a forward who can play anywhere in the front line, but his best position is as a second striker, drifting in from the left. He can be moody and inconsistent but at his best is a devastating dribbler, very fast, good skills. Not the best finisher but he does score plenty of goals.

doesn't matter what Modric wants, he's not for sale

haven't heard anything about Llorente recently

There is a hitch with Vucinic as Roma want the fee up front and Levy wants installments.

Last I heard about Leandro was probably January as he is one for the future and we dont see him ass someone who will slot straight into the premier league, he's only 20 years old

cheers mate

I guess Roma are talking euros and we'd be talking British pounds but there still seems to be a big difference in price there

Looking at the money other teams a forking out, €12.5 mill does sound a bit low.

We want €20 but I think he will go for around €18 perhaps.

He would be the best forward on your books without a doubt. A quality player who I must add always seems to play well against strong opposition. Has consistently scored against the likes of Milan, Inter, Juve etc. in the league, and has scored in Europe against the likes of Chelsea, Man Utd, Real Madrid etc.

Apparently the Vucinic deal has stalled?
We seem to be making offers left right and centre, looking for a bargain, which is understandable. I even saw Ibrahim Afellay mentioned on a 3million Euros deal

I mentioned a couple of days ago that there was a problem with the terms, Roma want cash and Levey offered terms.

We are also talking to RM about a few players not only Afellay, we could have a RM player in a few days if Palacios transfer is done soon.

Just wondering, with all this talk happening about you guys being linked to pretty much every player that's off contract, do you spur's fans think that you will sign someone quality? and do you think modric is going to chelsea?

what are your thoughts?
