so all this time we thought Bellamy was a master coach......turns out his effective salary cap was just bigger than other clubs due to all the extra TPAs
of course. "Super Coach" is media hype and click bait for the huddled masses who give as much thought to life as they do ordering a main meal at a restaurant.

So this just highlights why Bennet the myth is no longer at the Broncos! Gargantuan leg up in 3rd parties, 7 day turn arounds, and Sutton assistance and they still only just scrape into the 8. Laughing stock of the NRL.

Thaiday would have generated a lot of TPAs. It may sound odd given he became a real shadow of the player he was in the early 2010s, but if you travel around rural parts of the south-east it isn't too uncommon to see Sam on some billboard endorsing a product.

The most interesting thing is just how small a lot of the TPA figures are. I wouldn't have blinked if say the Cowboys had a million in TPAs, if only because JT is regarded the best player of the generation and would be getting all sorts of sponsership from Nike. I would have thought Hayne would have had a few deals lined up following his NFL stint. At least 49K or whatever he's earning.

it wouldnt take a large amount per year over the course of a contract to make a significant difference in earnings. 50 K a year over a 4 year contract is 200K. Not a small amount and enough to keep a player at a club who might of otherwise moved on.

There are examples of players turning down 200K a year for 3 yrs or more from the cap which is guaranteed, let alone a 50K TPA per season.

Does not add up.

On what basis? Results?

Haven't 13 of the 16 clubs won a title since the reunification in 1998?

It's a bit silly to come to such a conclusion based on just one year of data.

No

On results it is pretty clear clubs like Storm, Roosters and Broncos have a significant advantage. Premierships are one thing, but if you look at GFs, Prelims, Minor Premierships and Top 4 finishes there are a few clubs that are always up there.

If you aren’t you have to admit they are doing a terrible job at “finding” tpa for their big name players. I would have expected Cronk to have had more than $200k on his own.

That Harvard education must have cost. Has he turned up for enrollment day yet ?

What does everyone think managers get % wise for tpa’s compared to money from the salary cap? I’ve heard there is quite a difference which might be why tpa’s are coming down while the salary cap goes up

Doesn't change the point.

The "loophole" appears to be any non-cash "contra" isn't declared:

but this does not include a large number of small non-cash deals – for example equipment like boots and headgear
