you doubt metzelder isn't germanys #1? it's not his quality that will keep him out, it's the amount of cemented spots infront of him

no, I'm saying if Germanys number defender cant expect to start a fair share of matches for Real Madrid, then that would say more about Germany's defence than how good Metzelder is.

Persobally, I think he'll start quite a few games once the european competitions start.

Pepe (FC Porto) Real Madrid CF - €30 Million
Saviola (Barcelona) Real Madrid CF - Bosman

The Pepe signing is very exciting IMO as he is a fantastic defender. We now have the most incredible depth in the CB department: Cannavaro, Sergio Ramos, Pepe, Metzelder and Helguera.

Saviola is an OK pick-up: quality striker who won't complain given some bench time (he should be used to it). IMO this signing signals the end of Antonio Cassano at El Bernabeu, so everyone can expect him to be playing for "Real Madrid Retirees/Rejects FC" (a.k.a Inter Milan) pretty soon..

Nugent (Preston) - Pompey $6mil
Utaka (Rennes) - Pompey $7mil
Chopra (Cardiff) - Sunderland $5.5mil

Pompey are looking very good for next season, and should improve on the position they achieved last season! Good business from Harry.

Jerzy Dudek (Liverpool) Real Madrid CF - Bosman

Dudek becomes the third free transfer after Metzelder and Saviola. Let's be honest: he has ZERO (0) chance of surpassing San Iker (St. Iker Casillas; as they call him in Madrid :D) in between the posts at El Bernabeu. I can see the logic of wanting experienced + quality backup GKs though, as it is a position you don't want to be experimenting with, should the need arise; especially for important games (e.g. CL semis etc.)...

HERTHA BERLIN have confirmed that they have agreed a deal with Tottenham Hotspur for Kevin Prince-Boateng.

The German Under-21 international midfielder has been expected to join Sevilla in a £3.4million deal, but Spurs have beaten the offer of the UEFA Cup champions.

Spurs are rumoured to have offered the Bundlesliga club £5million for the player who was voted Germany's young player of the year in 2006.

General manager Dieter Hoeness said: “We have agreed a deal with Tottenham.

“Their offer matches our valuation and there is no need for any more negotiations. We have given them permission to talk with Boateng.”

well, for one he is a bit of a show poney, he loves attention and praise, definately wants his mug infront of the camers rather than behind it, think stan colleymore, he has mad talent but i think unless he kicks his media whorish ways he might be one of those could of been but never was players

He has always had good wraps. Very good wraps.

Hertha were pretty bad last year however. I'd be surprised if he made a big impact in the premier league next year, though probably a good long term investment for you guys.

You guys offered a lot more than Sevilla did for him.
