Birmingham agrees Mido fee

From correspondents in Birmingham, England
July 20, 2007

BIRMINGHAM City has agreed a £6 million ($12.3 million) fee with Tottenham Hotspur for Egypt striker Mido.

The 24-year-old player, who would be the Blues' seventh permanent signing of the off-season since winning promotion back to the Premier League, has yet to agree personal terms with the club.

The club said in a statement: "Mido had been rumoured in the media to be joining the club on a season-long loan but Blues can confirm that they are looking to sign the former Ajax, Marseille and Roma hot shot on a permanent deal.''

Mido initially joined Spurs on an 18-month loan from Roma before signing in August 2006.

He started only seven league games for the north Londoners, making five further appearances as a substitute and scoring one goal.

Ljungberg (Arsenal) - West Ham

Good signing for now.. Our midfield was very ordinary last year, got rid of the deadwood like nigel real stupid and brought in Parker, Faubet (now injured ggrrr) and Ljunberg which are all good signs it will be much better this year..

Freddy has been injury prone the past 2 seasons though... He's set himself up for a nice retirement if the rumours are right about 60k a week on a 4 year deal!

Moore signs for Queensland Roar

July 25, 2007 FORMER Socceroos captain Craig Moore will return to his hometown Brisbane on a two-year deal with A-League outfit Queensland Roar, the club said Wednesday.

Moore's return brings to an end a 14-year playing career in Europe, including stints at Glasgow Rangers, Borussia Monchengladbach, Crystal Palace and most recently two injury-plagued seasons at England's Newcastle United, who released him on a free transfer.

The move reunites Moore, 31, with former Australia coach Frank Farina, who made him Socceroos captain in 2004.

"He is a player of the highest quality and a real leader both on and off the field," Farina said. "His experience will be vital to helping us achieve our aim and I couldn't be happier that he has joined us."

Moore played his junior football in Brisbane before joining Scottish giants Rangers in 1993 as a 17-year-old and still has family in the Australian city.

"For me, it's the right time to come back and play in the A-League and I'm delighted to have signed for the club," Moore said.

"I'm young enough to give good service to Queensland Roar and hopefully I can make a good contribution to the league. Football is growing in Australia and I'm very happy to be part of it again."

because he doesn't get game time and so many people are ahead of him. 150 games in 8 years i think. i wish they kept him but can't fault him for leaving.

Hopefully Roque and McCarthy make a strong striker partnership! It has great potential.

6 is maybe too many. he was 4th in line. klose/toni will be #1 partnership, podolski next then santa cruz. but the whole time he's been there he's always been below the top. he is a class player and i hope he tears the premiership up

A fit Schlaudraff and the form he has shown in the league cup, possibly even wagner....
