If Falcao does leave, what about the forwards Atletico have let go off over the last 5 years or so. Torres, Aguero and now probably Falcao.

Talented Central Coast Mariners midfielder Tom Rogic completes move to Scottish giants Celtic

From correspondents in Glasgow, Scotland

January 18, 2013 12:08AM

Young Australian playmaker Tom Rogic has agreed terms with Scottish giants Celtic, putting pen to paper on a four-year deal.
The 20-year-old will officially become a Bhoys player if he is granted a work permit.
A Celtic statement read: "The club can confirm an application will be made to the appropriate authorities in the next couple of days."
Rogic has scored five goals in 24 A-League appearances for Central Coast Mariners and impressed Celtic manager Neil Lennon in a trial spell during the Scottish champions' recent Spanish training camp.
The recently-capped Socceroos international flew into Scotland on Wednesday with the rest of the Celtic squad after the Mariners accepted a bid believed to be around $A610,000.
The player's future has been the leading A-League transfer story, with Barclays Premier League clubs Fulham, QPR and Reading having also taken an interest.
Rogic will join Rami Gershon in signing for Celtic this month, with the Israeli defender having arrived on loan from Standard Liege.

Didier Drogba: Galatasaray sign striker from Shanghai Shenhua

28 January 2013
Last updated at 20:00

Galatasaray have reached a deal to sign former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba from Chinese side Shanghai Shenhua.
The Turkish club confirmed on their website that Drogba had agreed an 18-month deal.
The 34-year-old is currently on international duty for Ivory Coast at the Africa Cup of Nations.
Drogba - via his representatives, Sports PR Company, on Twitter - said: "I am looking forward to playing in the Champions League again."
Galatasaray are through to the last 16 of the competition, where they face German side FC Schalke 04.
"The opportunity to play for this great club was an offer that I could not turn down," added Drogba.
His representatives said he would join up with the Turkish side once the Africa Cup of Nations was over.
Drogba is Galatasaray's second high-profile signing of the month after Dutch international Wesley Sneijder joined from Inter Milan.
The former Marseilles striker left Chelsea last summer after eight years with the Premier League club, helping them to win the Champions League last May in his final game.
He joined Shanghai Shenhua in June and scored eight goals in 11 appearances.
Drogba had initially sought to return to Europe on loan and Chelsea had been in talks over a deal.
However, football world governing body Fifa blocked the move, saying it was against international transfer rules.
Drogba's former Chelsea team-mate Nicolas Anelka could also be leaving Shenhua after having a medical at Juventus.

Gala really looking to have a big crack at the UCL with Sneijder and now Drogba.

Also confirms that despite all the money, Chinese football remains a basketcase.

Mancini 'sad' about Balotelli sale

ESPN staff
January 30, 2013

Roberto Mancini admits a move to AC Milan was the best option for Mario Balotelli, with the striker set to join the Italian club on a four-and-a-half year deal.
It appears Balotelli, 22, has completed a medical with Milan and will move to the San Siro on Wednesday, although a formal contract is yet to be signed.
Following City's 0-0 draw with QPR in the Premier League on Tuesday, Mancini conceded it was a tough decision to let Balotelli go, although he insists the Italy international will benefit from playing in his home country.
"We are also sad because Mario was an important player for us," Mancini said. "With Mario we won the Premier League and the FA Cup in two years. But it's important for him to go back to Italy.
"It will be a good chance for him to stay with his family, to play for Milan. I think he can improve and I'm happy he will become one of the best players in the world.
"We love Mario and he deserves to have this chance. For me, no [he was not a problem]. Mario was like another one of my children. But you can be upset with him sometimes, but afterwards he's a lovely lad. When he left the hotel, they [the players] were really sad. Mario is a good guy."
While City still have to finalise terms with Milan before Balotelli's move is complete, the Serie A giants have shown no hesitation in claiming the striker as one of their own, already offering fans the chance to buy a personalised jersey.
Milan director Umberto Gandini revealed the signing of Balotelli on Tuesday via Twitter, claiming only personal terms need to be negotiated.
Gandini wrote: "Transfer agreement for Balotelli signed with Manchester City. Medicals tomorrow in Milan, then personal terms until 2017 signing."
Balotelli has been linked with a move away from the Etihad in recent months after falling behind Sergio Aguero, Carlos Tevez and Edin Dzeko in the pecking order. And a training ground bust-up with manager Roberto Mancini only served to highlight his rift with the club.
A member of City's starting line-up in the 2011 FA Cup final, when they ended a 35-year wait for a trophy, Balotelli also provided the crucial injury-time pass that set up Sergio Aguero for the dramatic Premier League title-winning goal at the Etihad Stadium in May 2012.
But that momentous afternoon came just five weeks after manager Roberto Mancini had said Balotelli would never play for City again after the striker was sent off at Arsenal, having been lucky to avoid a red card earlier in the same game for a dreadful challenge on Alex Song. Such lapses in professionalism have scarred Balotelli's time with the Blues.
Through most of the controversy, Mancini has stood by a player he has paid special attention to since they were together at Inter. And, until this season, Balotelli's contribution on the pitch has been enough to keep Mancini and the City supporters on his side. However, after returning from Euro 2012 with his reputation enhanced by a series of impressive performances for Italy, most notably the semi-final win against Germany when he scored twice, he has made neglible impact on the Blues' title defence.
He has made just two substitute appearances since a dire performance against Manchester United at the beginning of December, when he was handed a surprise start, but did little of note before being substituted in the second half.

Not really a transfer because he was a free agent, but Goldenballs has ended up at PSG for the rest of the season. And he's forgoing his salary too which is laudable.

Not too many big moves during this window in the end - maybe Ballotelli to Milan.

Certainly the final day was nowhere near as crazy as 2 years ago...

Besides the old Wheeler Dealer signing average players on inflated contracts to keep QPR in the league, nothing really happened.

Bundesliga: Bayern Munich agree £32m deal to sign Mario Gotze from Borussia Dortmund

Last Updated: April 23, 2013 10:03am

Borussia Dortmund have confirmed that Germany midfielder Mario Gotze will join Bundesliga rivals Bayern Munich in a £32million deal.

Dortmund revealed the news on their Facebook page, although they were keen to stress they had yet to hear anything official from Bayern.

"Mario Gotze's agent Volker Struth told us a few days ago that the player wishes to make use of his release clause and on July 1, 2013 move to Bayern Munich," read the Dortmund statement.

Borussia chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke admitted he would be sorry to see Gotze go but admitted the player had not broken his contract to secure the move.

"We are obviously disappointed beyond measure, but emphasise that both Mario and his advisers have behaved within the terms of the contract," he said.

"From Bayern Munich there has been nothing official on this matter up to this date."
