Why would the Police wait until after the Grand Final?

Maybe the betting agencies involved and the NRL haven't pressed charges yet or handed on certain information they may have. They may not be under any obligation to do so and no one mentioned is involved in the semis anyway. I can understand them not wanting to damage the games reputation again (Thanks Storm you cheating scum) before the Grand Final.

Police provide update on investigation into betting activity – Casino & Racing Investigation Unit
Wednesday, 22 Sep 2010 03:19pm

Detectives attached to the NSW State Crime Command have provided the following update in light of recent media coverage regarding betting activity allegations.

Detectives attached to Strike Force Suburb are continuing to investigate reports relating to alleged suspicious betting activity associated with the Round 24 match between the Bulldogs and the Cowboys.

Police can confirm that as with any investigation, no time-frame has been placed on this investigation or the announcement of any operational developments.

In light of some media coverage this morning, it is important to note that investigations are dictated only by the time it takes to gather and collate the information and evidence required to support or refute the allegations made.

Inquiries are continuing and it is inappropriate to speculate on the outcome or time frames of this investigation.

As a matter of course, police continue to liaise with representatives from the National Rugby League in relation to the matter.

Inquires are continuing and no further information is available at this time.
