Good deal. Sounds like some people just wanted to get rid of Nine rather than seeing the maximum revenue earned for the game.

Or that people wanted the NRL/ARLC to have control of scheduling...

This is effectively more of the same for a more contemporary price. The ARLC have won nothing in this deal.

Those poor Broncos... I'm sure they will be hurt after making record profits based on the sponsorship money they get from being on FTA for 75% of their games.

Just heard Mattiske on the Abc...what a gimp. Saying that ch9 got it because of the legacy they have in terms of producing RL content. f**king amateur hour

The ARLC is scary business

I've no issue with 9+fox getting it if they are up front and honest and just come out and say that it is purely about the dollar and that due to the previous deal they had to negotiate giving up of rights that should NEVER have been put in place to begin with.

But when you get Mattiske on the radio spruiking one single new live game for the Anzac day clash as a great result.....c'mon.

There is no innovation in the deal, just money... which is as what everyone has said, the game badly needs... fair enough.

Just don't treat the fans like idiots...

The fans should stop acting like idiots!

Why anyone would expect a tv station to act in a sporting organisations best interests over their own is beyond stupidity.

More of the same for double the money....

How much more did the AFL increase their deal since their last deal? How much did we increase out deal for 2007-2012 over the one that preceded it?

Doubling the money needs to be looked at the context and this is where the game has failed. We have got less money than the AFL for less options.

Correct. Gyngalls big problem seems to be that he has to front up to someone and explain why he has had to pay a lot more for exactly the same thing.

Seems the use of first & last rights by fox to screw over the fans has surprised quite a few people as well.

I am not having a go at Channel Nine or Fox numbnuts. The ARLC is supposed to get the best deal for the game and they have failed.

The last TV deal which was considered a failure was a 65% increase on the one before it - but it gained us an extra game on FTA including a new live game on Friday night, had 11 rounds fixed scheduling (which was more than prior), etc.

This one is a greater increase in terms of cash value but we have lost out on so many other things - We gain nothing extra on FTA, don't gain in terms of scheduling, add another two night time fixtures (thursday/sunday), move the GF back to night time, and schoolboy footy is taken off FTA and put on Pay TV.

This is only a slight increase on the last deal in terms of value. But then again, it was the ARLC so it must be good!

No innovation...hit the nail on the head. Absolutely reaks of people who are out of touch with modern society. Boardroom tyrants who should have been taken out the back and shot

lols at all the news haters who love the ARLC. All we've done is put gimps in charge who will let gyngell and Williams get away with what they want

I don't think anyone expects the TV station to act in our best interests.

That's why people are criticising the deal, because they believe it's not the best deal if you consider our 'best' interests.

It is the best deal in relation to our financial viability. Which may be our 'best' interest at present, that i'm not disputing.

NRL needs to schedule as many Cowboys and Titans games on Friday night as they can just to tell Nine thanks for the cash but this is our game not yours

Then the NRL will be in breach of their contract.
Nine win again, and our game is subject to what they want - not what the game needs.

Are best interest are the fans interest are the clubs interest are the players interest are the etc etc etc blah blah blah.

It's all subjective. Listening to whiney douches because they don't get their x number of live games and then declaring it's "in the best interests". I'm not buying it.

The fact is you can't judge a monetary deal until it is established what the money will be spent on.

But don't let that stop the preemptive doom sayers.

The optimism on this forum could fill a used condom.

The Broncos accept the grateful thanks of fans from the lesser clubs for our delivering unto you all an increased TV rights deal and subsequent increased grants to your club.
