So the fans from the club who arguably stand to receive the greatest benefit from the deal are also its biggest critics.

lol.

Explain to me how te Sharks will benefit more from this deal than the Broncos? Or the Tigers, or the Dragons, or any other team.

You may not need Foxtel or 9 if this happens...

Under the current broadcasting deal, live streaming was only permitted to overseas destinations - with Australian audiences forced to wait until 24 hours after the game had completed.
But under the new television deal announced on Tuesday, those restrictions have been removed in what could prove to be a financial windfall for the game.

"A key element of what was held out of the broadcast deals was our ability to deliver a stream that's simultaneous to the broadcast signal to people for viewing over mobile devices," Mattiske told AAP.

It is a 5 year deal.

Is anyone concerned about the night time Grand Final and think it should have been left as a 5pm kick off? If we ever want to get kids involved, then showing the GF at a decent time should be a priority as these kids are our future players and fans. The same thought about expansion if that ever happens to go to a second NZ team, kick off time over there will be 9:15pm and finishing around 11pm on a Sunday night and as far as I know they don't have a public holiday the next day.
The GF IMO should be in a more friendlier time for the younger kids. Just a thought

Not much point when kids barely get to watch any footy all year.

Yeah. So the article states they want it for 2013.. Now the deal is signed and this has been reported. I'll dump fox like a hot potato if I can watch the content online.

I only have fox for NRL and kids channels. For $100 a month I can pickup IP TV for them and watch the stream myself and pocket more than half that money.

The ARLC need to be commended for snagging $1.025 billion in TV rights with still the ability to stream digitally live into local markets, how the hell they got Nine and Fox to agree to that is beyond me. We could see our own Gamepass (NFL) type services if I've read that article correctly.

That's thing. I cannot understand why anybody would bag this deal. Screw 9... I'll have watched most of the game by kick off.

How are you worse off from this year? I would assume when the draws done in Nov.

The top 8 teams will get a good Fri night run. Certainly more then the 2 or whatever from this year. Those clubs have money & are always on 9. They will get less now.

Like us. You guys could do with the funds. You would think in amongst the 2 hour nightly footy on channel 94. Would contain highlights.

So people without fox will see plenty of the sharks.

I read it as local streaming on mobile devices only but hopefully it includes PCs, I guess it will depend on the definition of IPTV. Hopefully the stream isnt as crappy as it is now so you can just buy a tablet with HDMI out to watch it on the TV.

Plus FOXTEL users get a free app on any FOXTEL based IPTV device as well as iPads and iPhone apps that let them watch FOX games live anywhere they want.

I will definitely pay $250 for a season pass of the NRL online. I have a laptop connected to my plasma to watch HD NFL and NBA through their online gamepass feeds.

I am not arguing with you mate.
Someone had a go at me saying as a sharks fan I shouldn't be bagging the deal as my club benefits most from it.

Cronulla finished equal with Manly and Melbourne on points in 2008, they fell 1 game short of the GF. I suggest you have a look at the FTA coverage they got in 2009.

The inference was that fans of clubs that are in financial dire straights should be happy that the game now has enough money to bail you out. I think that was what he was suggesting!

If you don't spend all weekend in front of the tv, you obviously don't care about how many games are shown live.

If you only care about your team, buy a season ticket and go to every home game.

well I did that for 20 years, my mum and then my two kids so 4 season tickets for at least 10 of those years, but moved to Brisbane now so cant get to home games, and I tell you something for nothing, if you're not a broncos supporter up here it f**king sucks, all you get is broncos this broncos that, f**k even the local freeway got changed to f**king Darren Lockyer way only days after he retired, so sick of f**king broncos

What I obviously meant was your club stands to gain the most out of this deal when considering your parlous financial state, through the imminent increase in club grants and if that isn't adequate enough through vehicles like the newly created future fund also.

Despite all of this, you and your fellow supporters continue to heavily criticise the deal.

Shut up and be grateful as what has just been created for the game will ultimately secure your clubs future.

The development will secure my clubs future.
Not this TV deal.

And who the fugg are you to tell me to shut up?
This is an Internet forum fugg knuckle, I'll discuss the deal however I choose.
I'll criticism the deal as it has inadequacies.

Tell me again why certain teams should monopolize FTA tv coverage, regardless of form or ladder position.

With an iPad you can get an apple tv device and throw it on the screen using AirPlay.
