The biggest issue with expansion in the 90's imo was it was too much too quick.

Should have been 2 teams in 95, then the next 2 in 97 or 98.

And as someone who has been through having their team kicked out, I am 100% against forced relocations or worse forced folding.

If it happens naturally than fair enough.

If they do decide to expand to 18, would be best to announce it pretty soon to give the clubs that are given the go ahead plenty of time to set the club up right.

Re. AFL expansion, the biggest issue with the way the Suns and Giants came about was that there was no demand for clubs in those areas. Tasmania have been screaming out for a club for years, but the AFL continually ignore them.

They would rather sink millions into trying to support clubs that just weren't wanted.

Paranoid drivel imo.

Now - where'd I put my Tasmanian tiger steak with polar bear-infused coulis?

Seriously, though - I read Ceballos' original report, in untranslated Spanish, and I'm not convinced.

In one section, he claims that the rate of extinction is 114 times higher than the next highest point in history, and that he's lowballing the number.

He then claims that due to new species being discovered at such an unprecedented rate, as compared to previous points in history, there isn't necessarily cause for alarm.

It's an interesting repory, but ultimately, it read to me more as a biological cautionary tale as opposed to a dire warning to alter our ways or die.

Both correct, incorrect, and interesting. And yes, that's three things, shut up!

The report itself is over sensationalised IMO. There's no risk to humanity, which is the angle most outlets seem to be taking. "We're all gonna die!"

That said, it is an extinction event, and a concerning one. It's far from unparalleled, though. The Permian extinction laughs in our faces. Even the death of the dinosaurs makes what's happening now look like a rabbit shoot. We are losing a lot of large, recognisable species though, and I think that's why it's such a big story. Talk up the extinction if a billion insect species and people laugh as the world ends. Talk up the extinction of 50 megafauna and people call it the end times. I'm waiting for one type of story/opinion that hasn't been briught up....lol

Oh btw I'm adding you to FB, I feel like a merkin but I just saw a PM from like the year 1143 that was buried under mafia and FFBRL shite....

All good, mate!

I think their findings are interesting, and definitely something to sit up and take notice of - but Ceballos himself said in an interview that he's concerned about the report, but optimistic about the future because of mankind's penchant for solving issues.

It's no secret that we've contributed hugely to the depopulation of several species, and our collective appetites for being "number one" and whatnot has expedited the extinction of several animals. I also believe that, left unchecked, it could have grave consequences.

I wish it were as dire as some predict. Would encourage a lot of heads to come out of a lot of arses. Humanity sucks tbh.

f**k the lot of you.

meh.. if we run out of animals to eat we can just start eating people..

and don't believe people when they say "eat the fatties first" - we should target the lean, muscular types as they'll contain more protein and overall be better for us..

So... a sensitive one.

Has anyone had 'the one'? And are currently not in a relationship with them, but still bear the wound?

So... Not alone?

Seriously, that whole Hollywood bollocks about 'the one' ticks me off. Be realistic ffs, there is no such thing as a relationship without the need for compromise.

Not about the bolded. Merely about the passion of someone you meet and feel drawn to in a far more... significant way than can be described about others.

You qualify for the 'Met her, married her, there's no other 'her'' category.
