Can someone please explain this part of the Sharks official statement to me
"While this is in no way the outcome the Club planned for, there was no option but to grant a release to Holmes."

There was no option?
The club couldn't say "sorry son, you've signed, you play. Chase your next career after 2019" ?
If this was the case and he defied the order wouldn't the NRL, whom he is contracted to, step in?
It all comes across as weak as piss to me, by both player and club.

Very f**king weak imo. Should've made him honour his contract . He could sit in reserves if he doesnt perform. He was leaving anyway.

We need to sign Barba. Throw him a 3 year contract, if cows are so sure Val is going there in 2020 then Barba is ours. If cows aren’t sure they might sign Barba for 3 years which then makes Val available when / if he returns in 2020.

Can you imagine the amount of tears flowing at the moment around the fan base? FMD. What was the club supposed to do. Far kim Off like I wanted 4 years ago? There would have been suicides.

And give the Orr Brothers some credit. They have played the club & the fans like a 2 bob violin. The only power the club had was to be in some kind of control of the release. I just read Matt Rogers comments. He is out of his depth on this topic. He said it's "not the Cronulla way" to stand in someone's way. The "Cronulla way" got us next sweet f**k all for 50 years.
Gallen was part of the change that saw our club move away from that cultural cringe.
Us fans are getting annoyed that we are seeing our club go back to "The Cronulla way" under the present management. The Holmes situation illustrates this perfectly.
I'm no big fan of Gallen but a one club player who led the team to its first premiership, and is still playing for the club, has more insight to what is going on then a bloke who hasn't played for us in 18 years.
The papers love Gallen as he speaks his mind freely to them, I bet he's not the only one who is thinking what he said.
