Not sure who would be second when it comes to developing and using it's own juniors?

10 players out of Parra'a top squad are local products a further 7 have come through our system from other areas 3 were unwanted from their previous clubs, 2 were granted a release to sign with us and 1 YES!!! 1 was regarded as a marquee signing where we effectively outbidded 2 other clubs to sign him.

that bloke was Mark Riddell.

interesting excercise isn't it? should really have it's own thread instead rather than dallymessenger turning it into "my dick is bigger than your dick" arguement.

interested to see what Manly and the Roosters look like..

Billy there's also an article on newstext called "Experiment does Storm damage"

starts off
MELBOURNE Storm want to axe their Saturday afternoon rugby league experiment after 10 weeks of ordinary crowds and poor television ratings. ...

How many of their juniors are in their top squad? not talking about under 20's or SG ball etc.

it's dally way of diveritng the topic

the problem is he's done the exact same thing a few times in this thread already. he gets schooled on it and then brings it back up again later hoping everyone forgot the first time he did it

in another few pages he'll do it all over again

he's got nothing

he'll mention Tahu again soon. then Matt King

he'll do anything to drag it off topic

How surprising- a club that is only 10 years old does not have Victorian born players and has to recruit interstate until they develop their junior base.

"The number of kids participating in clinics or some type of rugby league activity, I think, is getting up around 48,000 contacts this year, which is huge when you are trying to develop an interest in the game first and also develop an interest in the Storm," Brentnall said

I don't know and nor do I have the time or energy to research it but do the math.

Apart from Petero and Priddis for Panthers, and Reyonaldson and Cross for Knights...how many players do they sign. They have a huge junior base and besides Robbie Overdose how many damn QLDers played for the Knights. So they're not getting them from there...its a matter of commonsense, they use their own backyard more than any other team.

You only have to look a few years ago and Souths would easily be in the top 4 or 5 teams when it comes to buying players. And I dont have my sources with me, but do the research and you'll see its true. The Bunnies have been as bad as Roosters and Parra when it comes to buying players.

You forgeting that Souths was out of the comp and had to rebuild a team from scratch. They had to buy players in those first few years to field a team.
When we came back in it was Gould that did alot of the recruitment. Now that we are back on our feet and have decent management we are back to how it use to be using our own and retaining as many as possible, trying to buy as many back as possible.
Except Anasta you guys can keep him.

wherd you get 10 coming from your junior ranks. your other eel mate had it at 7 max.

and i hope you arent counting or ben smith as locals, as they were pinched from queensland and the country.

by juniors i dont mean local teams in the area. ie grew up around the area, played for some local teams in the area and then got spotted by the eels.

not noel cleal going to a schoolboys carnival in the bush and signing the player for the eels and chucking him in jersey fleg or harold mathews.

we are talking about players developed by that area

i said 7 or 8 played last year actually, not 7 max. get it right

eelevation is not talking top 17 either. he's talking 25 man squad i'm pretty sure of. big numbers are hard for you, aren't they

he'd have more of an idea than me too on who actually comes from where

heres the point the dumb eels fans miss which is blatant.

all NRL clubs to a large extent dont rely upon local kids from their team but go into the market and get players from whereever.

the storm are no different to that. they take players who have been missed by other clubs and turn them into first graders.

to really expect them to have produced NRL ready players from victoria this early is really dumb given RL had basically no roots there pre Storm.

the examples ive shown show that parramattas record in this regard is hardly an ideal one given all they have going for them that the storm dont ie rich leagues club and being located in a RL mad state.

if parramatta actually pulled the finger out and worred about their footy team rather than other sports, you might find a succesful RL club, not a continual disappointment

so at best its 40% if its 10 out of 25.

great work parra.

cant even fill their side with half the team of locals.

what a waste of 50 years.

why not trot out more old sh*t thats been refuted in the faint hope evryone forgets you're like a broken record?

it hasnt been hard showing how dumb your position is.

showing how bad parras record were at the very thing you bagged melbourne for nailed it. i find it amusing how you couldnt defends parras poor use of local players either.

the irony

why dont parra have a team which is at least half full of locals. 50% after 50 years is hardly a big feat. but then again, dennis is too busy funding union and soccer to worry about a poorly performing RL club
