I guess it depends on your definition of 'local'. A player like Michael Weyman is from Moruya which is not in the Raiders local comp, but its close by and a place where the Raiders have a high profile. The Raiders did a pre-season training weekend there in 07, for example. Michael Weyman himself has said he grew up dreaming of playing for the Raiders and definitely considers himself a local player (as does the Raiders crowd).
Do you consider Cairns players to be Cowboys juniors?

the game is already played in those states. Melbourne are't in the comp to get more players in Queensland

are you that f**king geniused?

it appears so

yet you think the Storm offer sommething

stupid and geniused

you should give up thinking too

stop thinking. it's doing you no favours

it was 16 points

i presume your mongoloid mind thinks this is somehow on topic :?

stupid, geniused and demented

well i'm pleased to know that

how many juniors will this produce for the Storm?

stupid, geniused, demented and deranged

yeah, matty king was an origin player whilst playing reserve grade for cronulla wasnt he?

and greg inglis, cam smith, billy slater, all missed by the broncos and cowboys and mayve not even been recognized by other nrl clubs if not for the storm.

when im watching origin, one thing i notice is how many storm players are in there. not too many parra players though. i wonder why?

no, you said there was no local talent in melbourne, they couldnt develop their own players.

now, remind me, how many players in the parramatta FG side that played their junior footy in the parramatta area?

lets be fair here. if you dont know what the situation is about your team, but you feel the need to bag a rival then you really are as dumb as you appear to be

PS thanks storm for producing so many origin players.

Well Done

Storm are not necessarily in the comp to bring through loads of new RL juniors. (That will be the WA Reds job!)

They are there to get more viewers watching sport on TV and in that they are doing a great job. This will beenfit all clubs when the TV deal goes up and the club grants are increased. ED you should be on bended knee thanking the Storm for being so succesful!

so the eels had at most 8 players out of 17 from their local area last year. im guessing at times it was much less than that as well, you just picked the high figure cause you know you are up s**t creek on this one.

now the eels have been around for 50 years. they are located in a RL dominated state where the game gets saturation coverage.

your club has everything go for it regarding finances, leagues club and location. and your idea of acceptable is 8 players at most (ie less than 50%) coming from your local competition.

so to be fair now, if the storm can average 8 out of 17 as locals after theyve been around for 50 years, then theyll be doing fine.

they have 40 years to develop 8 players regularly.

thanks

no,i picked it over the whole year

reguulars were Hayne, Inu, Robinson, Cayless and Mateo

thanks cap

i suggest you read back over your past posts. you said the footy club was up the sh*tter

and i also suggest you look at the total number playing in the NRL, not just Parra. the number will be higher

so to be fair now, if the storm can average 8 out of 17 as locals after theyve been around for 50 years, then theyll be doing fine.
they have a whole state. if they can't fill it solely with Victorians by then they're doing terrible

this just gets better.

so the real figure is 5 regulars out of 17 spots ie 30%.

ED considers a figure of 30% of a clubs FG players coming from their local junior competition being an acceptable figure.

over 2/3rds of the eels FG spots were filled with players who were developed by another junior system.

and the number of players in the eels junior system with other nrl clubs is irrelevant. by your own criteria ED its the number of players the team relies upon from its own juniors that matter.

your problem is melbourne is they dont rely on their own juniors. now bearing in mind that they have only been around for 10 years and its unlikely for top grade RL players to have been developed in that time, and only now are we starting to see real benefits.

in comparison, a club like parramatta who supposedly have a very healthy junior system only get 30% of their players from the local system.

thanks ED

were have you got this from?

plucked from your arse again

its far from irrelevant as it's contributing to RL. you think Parra should be punted though

they don't even attempt to. that's my problem

i've only said it 1,000 times

you said the storm dont sign players from their own junior area.

since thats your idea of a yardstick, then ive decided to look at your club.

the record of parra after 50 years and lots of money in that regard is simply awful.

30% only coming from the parramatta junior nursery system is poor.

now either you accept that parramatta has problems in this area, or your accusations on the storm are hypocritical and biased.

no-one expect the storm to have started developing juniors after 10 years. maybe after 20 years you might see some coming through.

and you make no allowance for the storm going against AFL in their heartland as well.

you just blindly judge them against established clubs operating in states where RL is dominant.

i said they spend more money poaching than developing

if they spent more they would have some in 1st grade nom imo anyway

and you've done a piss poor job

eelavation made you look like the dunce you are pages ago

you just regurgitate the same sh*t again after you were embarrassed before. f**k knows why

you're boring and stupid and i'm not going it over again

I also don't really remember games being aired at 3pm in the afternoon live into Melbourne. TBH without backing your claims it just sounds like your making them up.

NRL back to Saturday afternoon

SYDNEY, Dec 6 AAP - The National Rugby League upped the ante against the AFL today,
agreeing to revive Saturday afternoon matches next season in a bid to win support in the
rival code's heartland.

Today's meeting of the coaches, chief executives, club chairmen and NRL board representatives
also discussed the judiciary, on-field playing trends and the draw for next season, which
will be announced tomorrow.

The Storm will be the major beneficiary of Saturday afternoon rugby league, with games
involving the club where possible shown live in Melbourne on Channel Nine
and across Australia on Foxtel.

Melbourne chief ...

proof it happened

how could a true fan forget :?

don't say 9 never gave you a chance. they did and nobody watched

I think out of most clubs Souths are one of the only clubs that uses alot of it's own juniors with a mix of some buys.
For the 2008 season we have 12 souths juniors in the senior squad. That's not including under 20's etc.
Not sure who would be second when it comes to developing and using it's own juniors?
But the the fact that Souths does this is one of the main reasons why I'm proud to support them.
