I didn't phrase my post properly. I'm not saying a Perth team would require outside support I was just asking if it was possible.

As for the Storm they were on the nose in the early 2000s with a quarter full Olympic Park and no local media coverage after Nine got the AFL rights. Those three players from Norths Devils brought them back from the dead.

Wow surprised Breakwater does happy hour. The old Breakwater used to be one of my locals, $5 jugs on Wednesday nights IIRC
Loved the old ppace, $5 jugs, basket of chips, stick to the floor carpets and a dodgy rock band on at 8pm lol

Now I'm older I do like the sophistication of the new one though :)

The Bears aren’t owed anything. They certainly aren’t owed the ability to white ant the possibility of a successful WA NRL team.
Oh well the guy running the game thinks they are

his opinion counts for a lot yours not so much lmao

plus vlandys literally told Perth the way for them to get into the nrl was to team up with the bears

That's got nothing to do with your claim that the Storm would fold without interstate supporters.

Well if he’s not making the decision Perth don’t get a team because he’s the one pushing for this

and he doesn’t make any decision unilaterally

that’s not how boards work

not even your club with sacking Hasler to get seibold

If he’s not making the decision then there’s other ways for Perth to get a team that’s not the Bears. They can call for bids and the board can select a non-Bears bid to represent WA.

Nah, I can talk about how the WA Bears are a bad idea, at least how the Bears themselves are presenting it, and how they’re no certainty to win the 18th licence here just fine.

Oh well be prepared to be disappointed

maybe nz will win the bid And the bears can join with them and Perth can bid to have their own branding as team 20

Prepare to be disappointed? Like the Bears when they were so sure they’d sewn up the deal to enter as the Central Coast Bears they started selling foundation memberships?

Wow you sound bitter

oh well

Why would he be bitter? He is a Manly fan.

He just doesn’t want a true expansion spot (NZ, Perth or wherever else) being possibly screwed up because a team wants to remain a Sydney side in spirit. If they truly relocated then we could see the benefits and be supportive of it

Well if he doesn’t want the bears involved with the Perth bid he can just post all he wants on the other Perth thread

kinda weird posting on this one when he clearly hates the bears

Nah, I can comment my thoughts on what the Bears have proposed for WA here, it’s the thread for it. As Colk said, it could work as a Swans-style wholesale relocation (but probably wouldn’t be as successful due to the 20+ year gap between seasons).

Their proposal, however, is a waste of an expansion slot on appealing to emotions and nostalgia. Bringing back the Bears in any form isn’t going to fix 20+ years of rot on the North Shore, it’ll be a gleeful nostalgia trip for the Boomers and Gen Xers who still care about them, however no one else is going to care and it won’t be worth compromising the potential success of a wholly dedicated WA team to allow an ever-shrinking group of old Sydney based fans to get what they want.

A few red flags from the post earlier outlining NS demands. Not sure NZ would support 4 home games in Sydney.
What other bids/consortiums does WA have?
