You're counting your chickens before they hatch.

NZ's hopes have probably died with the death of Spark sport, but I can definitely see the Bears in some form, or even another Qld side, getting up under the current administration.
I meant IF they go with a perth team. with pistol,Pete leading the circus I wouldnt expect anything lol. They’re just as likely to choose THE Bears playing in 4 NSW Venues!

I haven't moved the goal posts at all. Your example doesn't even come close to living up to the criteria I set out.

Jim Jefferies isn't an A lister, he doesn't have the cash to do what Crowe did, so far there's no reason to believe that his connections are willing to commit anywhere near the kind of investment he'd require, and the Bears almost certainly wouldn't be interested in any offers for the club anyway.

Sure the article mentions Perth, but Jim is pretty inconspicuous on that subject. It's all "they could just be called "The Bears"', 'I know that they couldn't be based in Sydney, but we could play multiple games at NS Oval a year, and there's a lot of potential options for a base' BS.

No commitment to a relocation, no indication of a plan to build a new fanbase in a new market, just the same tired, old, and insulting, plan to simply use another market as a backdoor into league.

He was however significantly richer than Jefferies is, and he had mates with personal fortunes in excess of hundreds of millions of dollars offering to help out.

Lets try to put it into perspective; Jefferies has an estimated net worth of around US$10mil. At the time Rusty bought the Rabbitohs his net worth would have be in the 10s of millions, almost certainly more that US$50mil, and is now worth somewhere between US$100-150mil.

Are you starting to see the difference yet?
I love how you pull stuff out of your backside and totally ignore the article

The new Queensland team should have been a separate entity to the Queensland cup. A side with no ties to a specific area. A new franchise all of Brisbane could get behind. At least East was central Brisbane.
Nevertheless I'll be supporting the Dolphins 🤷‍♂️
My point is, I don't have a great deal of faith in the expansion effort.
We might just end up with some Bears thing that plays a couple games at the run down " Oval " 🤦‍♂️ in North Sydney, couple games at Central Coast and the rest at Perth...

Bears fans have hope because league is that dumb.

I didn’t ignore your article, there’s not much to it in the first place. You’re just totally delusional when it comes to the Bears.

You’re so charitable to their position that it leads you to massively over estimate their potential on every level, including Jim’s usefulness as potential owner/partner.

Carlton has a population of 6,800 and 81k members! The idea you can only atract fans from your Immediate area is nonsense.
Glad we agree. Same applies to the Dolphins, who have the added bonus of playing most of their games at Brisbane's premier stadium located in the Brisbane CBD which will further help attract supporters for all areas of Brisbane.

I'd like to see them form some sort of amalgamation with the Easts Tigers and Wynnum Manly Seagulls to represent everywhere from Moreton Bay in the north to Logan in the south. The younger generation from Redlands and the bay side suburbs of Brisbane could become a major part of their future fanbase. Broncos are huge in Logan.

Abso-f**king-luty in this case.

That's nothing to brag about either because you're totally clueless when it comes to the Bears (and pretty much everything else). Literally have no idea what you're talking about to the point that I doubt that you're even old enough to remember when they were part of the NRL.

Jim's done a couple interviews on his proposed buying/partnering with the Bears, they're more or less the same so you don't need to listen to more than one of them. Here you go- https://www.triplem.com.au/story/ji...ng-back-the-bears-as-the-18th-nrl-team-204947

Key points;
I know it won't be the North Sydney Bears anymore, it'll just be called the Bears.
Whether they move to a different city, I know Perth is interested and there's some other places.
I think you need 2 or 3 games at North Sydney Oval just to keep the fans happy, like a lot of people in Sydney away games will be home games for em.
So his opinions are exactly as I described them...

Is that right?!

Mate you couldn't articulate my opinion on the Dolphins even if your life depended on it...

Except for the above, pretty much everything else in our discussion about the Bears, etc, etc.

This pigeon chess BS is boring.

I don't think @The Great Dane has written off the Dolphins. All he's said is the way they've marketed themselves will prevent them from appealing to RL fans across the entire Greater Brisbane region. I think he's got a point. I don't think it's impossible for a few people from Ipswich, Logan and southern Brisbane to choose the Dolphins as their main team, but I think they will be a small minority for at least the first ten years of the Dolphins journey in the NRL. It's going to take time for them to develop a sizeable fanbase outside of Redcliffe and require things outside of their control to go their way.

They should have been called north brisbane dolphins and had feeder arrangements with all qrl clubs north of river with all games at Suncorp, well actually they shouldn’t have got the license, the south brisbane firehawks should have but that’s a ship that’s sailed

Dane is a pompous idiot. Setting up shop in same stadium, representing same area, being another corporate entity would've put team behind 8 ball. Tried to include Ipswich in end but too little too late

All the NRL "fans" hoping dolphins fail, just so they can say they were right on forum. Toxic
I don't want them to fail. For that reason I think they should play all of their games out of Lang Park. Dolphin Oval can only accommodate 11.5k people. That's not enough. It's fine for pre-season games and to be used as a training base, but for NRL Premiership games it shouldn't be used until it can support 25k people.
