Yay rugby league is the winner

This is a little more recent. I guess they updated their forecasts from 2009

Whilst there is a chance, Victoria would have to increase on their lowest band of growth and Queensland on their highest band of growth. That would seem unlikely.

Firstly, you’re using Wikipedia lol

Secondly, have a look at a few things rather than select what you want to read fit.

Look at GSP per capita for instance. It is $30k more than any other state of territory in Australia. That means the average income per person is $30k more than anywhere else

Their annual growth rate is second in Australia behind the ACT at 3.66%. That’s a pretty significant growth for a developed area.

Their state surplus is three times bigger than anywhere else in the country

To suggest that WA is poor is absolutely ridiculous and probably the dumbest argument against putting an expansion side there Sure question whether there is the support or player potential because they are valid arguments but to suggest that the area is too poor to be in the competition is severely reaching

I thought wiki snobbery died in around 2007 but you always want to prove your superiority - u protest too much.
Where did I say Perth was poor?! Sydney then Melbourne are by far the most lucrative markets in Australia, hence the limited sponsorship money eagles & dockers get in comparison

Lol, WA is poor now.
And the bears are powerful. What a wonderful world you live in.

I wouldn't say they are powerful, But if the $15m they have in sponsors is true.
Add that to the local guys that Perth can bring in partnered with the Junior Pathway and it is a very strong club. Same could be if the 2 unsuccessful QLD teams were to join Perth's bid

It will feel like and look like a shonky merger like Wests tigers. It's a recipe for disaster. The bears brand is very poor. All people here could come up with was some players from 100 years ago.
The ARLC just need to spend money here on grass roots like they do in NSW and QLD.

Perth, NZ2, PNG where ever team 18 comes from. Will have the curiosity factor for the 1st couple of seasons, It will take 10-15 years before that area fully supports the new team.

It will take some local players feeding etc like with all the Regional sides. Years 3-10 is where If partnered with East Tigers or Bears that the club should still remain strong with the extra support those clubs have.

Are the West Tigers seen as a Merger club now? Older people yes but a huge chunk of their fanbase are too young and only remember Benji and co.

The question we need to ask is does Perth deserve to have foundation club status and all that entails ?

my answer is in the negative

They can easily link up with NSW or QLD second division side without having them as a part owner and adopting they're poor brand.

And yes. Wests are seen as a merger by most people. The club itself makes sure it plays at both Campbelltown and Leichhardt. They even insist on wearing the gold jersey at Leichhardt and the black jersey at Campbelltown. They aren't a blueprint to be following. And I'm one of their fans.

It is also the most isolated and so far away. The biggest thing mentioned here is the lack of a 2nd tier setup. Bears bring that, They also have sponsors on board. Again early on that is good thing while Perth takes hold
agreed re second tier, but that can be had by partnering with any second tier club without being owned by them.
Sponsors, do they? They said they have 'investors' thats a very different thing. I note the current Bears main sponsor is the leagues club not some white collar company.

They can yes but then funding of the whole club rests on a developing market, $10m or so that these options bring are better.

They would be inner Sydney only if they didn't need Campbelltown for the juniors, Wests Ashfield running the side has meant that. The latest 2 brand new AFL expansion teams are duds, Lions and Swans hold their own due to being relocated teams. No reason the part owner setup can't work

I don't think the swans survive because they are a relocated team. That's a long bow. Do they play home games in Melb?
I don't see the comparison really. Sth Melb weren't a second division team.

Yep they adopted everything from south Melbourne

wonder how many members they get from Melbourne it’s probably at least 10k and guarantees them better away crowds in melb

The swans are a model of success if you are going to relocate a club. New ownership, new name, 100% based and playing in the city they move to. None of that successful model is what is being proposed by the NS Bears.
