hey reds im not the one in constant fights with other members here over trivial things in an endless willy wonka measuring contest about who is right and wrong or who has the better inside informants etc.

but west aussie is pretty desolate beyond perth and queensland has sunny coast, goldie, cairns, port douglas and airlie beach outside brissy. just making a point of truth there. plus yamba and surrounding regions here is better than both.

keep up the good fight though
You’ve clearly never been to the sw, Albany, Exmouth, Pemberton, Broome or many of the other beautiful places out of perth if that’s what you think WA is like. I expect better quality trolling from you than that lol

It looked like Penrith from far away, the reversed kit, with red up top is more iconic and more suited to reflect the bears

The "block and stripes" family of jersey designs was very popular in the late 1980s-early 1990s.. Parra & Newcastle had designs similar to the one on the right while Penrith (allsorts), Manly (Pepsi) & the Cowboys (1995-6 jersey) were more like the one on the left.

[Edit] the Broncos had another variation on that between 1998 & 1996 as well.

It's a branch of jersey design that needs to come back, IMO.

Parra, Penrith & Newcastle have dabbled with it in heritage kits, but I'd love to see an expansion team really embrace that kinda look - and maybe spur other clubs to follow suit, whether that's properly reviving a classic look OR in a new alternate jersey for a few years (eg Souths)

i think thats all fair enough. the game needs these elements to grow there and it all comes with being given an nrl franchise that'll make the state millions back over time in tourism etc.

come on cookie, sign that dotted line

i would assume the pressure to get the deal finalised or the contractual paperwork wrapped up is building for west aussies now.

reality is v'landys should have swindled another $20-30m out of fed gov and used that for the west aussie bears but who knows maybe they have done some sort of agreement in background. the vibe feels like nrl are ready to get west aussie bears up and running but they just need to get the iron clad commitment in contract form for the other key areas outside nrl club as noted above.

Match ARLC funding to WANRL dollar to dollar ? Think read something along those lines in one of those articles.

The NRL's demands of WA are ludicrous given what they're offering in return. The NRL are literally demanding more of WA than they've ever asked of anywhere else, and giving them the least in return. The NRL have also made it clear that they aren't actually interested in a WA side, and are only willing to tolerate one if it helps achieve other objectives.

At some point WA have to ask themselves if it's worth it given the ridiculous asking price.

If WA's smart they'll make a reasonable counter offer; something along the lines of they'll help fund a COE, reasonable upgrades to HBF with a decent deal on rent, etc, etc, but no Bears, all 12 home games at HBF, it's not the WA taxpayers job to fund your junior develop programs, etc, then wait and see.

If the NRL still turn them down after that, well, decent negotiators have to know when it's time to walk away from a deal... Step back, bide your time, and let PVL try to fob his tainted goods off on somebody else.
