In an ideal world, expansion into states like this should be NRL funded, with a view to selling it off once established

I'm not against that idea, it means that there's some control from head office that can put steady heads in the right positions, not just rely on what's available in that local area or whoever the bidders come up with (ala cumins zero effort)
Especially in areas like SA, WA, NZ2 where the code would not be looked upon as no.1, was Melbourne Storm a similar set up?

The same people here who are questioning him doing it are the first to praise afl when they get govt money to help their expansion teams

The Greek accountant is doing his job. Its why clubs are allowing for expansion to happen and it’s better the money comes from the bidders rather than the arl profits
