As I said the other day - have we been led down the garden path yet again ? You bet your sweet nelly we have ! There was one chap whom I thought knew what he was talking about , but alas that was not the case .

So why did Dil Rothschild write the crap in the paper only last week ? Was it to get back at us ' nasty- nasty ' dragon supporters who took offence at his article on the death of a rugby league legend . No ? Then if that was not the case , then that must finally prove to all and sundry that the bloke has no idea about FACTS .

Not blaming him entirely , but he was the one who lit the original fire that got out of control as fires have a habit of doing . Lord forbid ! A horrible thought has just occurred to me - is our man Doust really leaving at the end of the season ? ? ?

What are we going to discuss the next week now.
How does Dylan Napa to Dragons sound again.
That lazy $750,000 in John Moz ashtray should get him over to us.
Biggest discussion will be is Napa for this year or 2019.

I think there would have been interest at the right price but no one was willing to pay so Walmsley went with the long term deal and probably an upgrade

Alex Walmsley ends NRL sepculation by signing four-year deal at Saints
February 2, 2018 Matthew Shaw

St Helens star Alex Walmsley has ended speculation over his future after signing a new four-year deal with the club.

The 27-year-old had been strongly linked with a move to the NRL at the end of the season after catching the eye of clubs Down Under after an impressive World Cup campaign with England.

St George Illawarra Dragons were among those heavily linked with the forward, but he has signed a new contract that will keep him with the club until the end of the 2022 season.

It comes as a significant boost to head coach Justin Holbrook, who had stressed the importance of keeping the powerhouse at the club.

“Alex is the leader in our pack and this contract means we can continue to build around him for the foreseeable future,” Holbrook said.

“He has tremendous go forward and work-rate to go alongside his professional attitude and standard he sets for the younger members of our squad. His story should also serve as a message to those in all levels of our game.

“It is a massive bonus for our club to have Alex re-sign on the eve of the 2018 season. There has been a lot of interest from clubs in the NRL and deservedly so. I believe Alex is the best forward in Super League and showed his qualities even further for England in the recent World Cup.

“Alex is not only a fantastic player but more importantly a tremendous person and the fact he has decided to extend his contract with us proves to our club and the Community that he loves playing for St Helens.

“I know he will be doing his absolute best to make us successful now and in the future.

“I am personally very excited about having Alex remain at the club and all Saints fans should be also.”

Walmsley’s professional career started at Batley Bulldogs before joining the Saints in 2013. He has made 147 appearances in the red vee, winning the Grand Final in 2014 and earning a Man of Steel nomination a year later.

“This is superb news not only for the St Helens club but for the British game,” Saints Chairman Eamonn McManus said.

“Alex is an international class player who has been at the forefront of the sport over the last few seasons.

“He has established himself as one of the best forwards in the game and it is fair to say he can only get better too.

“We know Alex was courted by several NRL clubs and I have no doubt that this signing will be a boost for everyone in Super League.”

No, it's because of our fans desperation for a team that can be on the same park as storm, rorters, cowgirls, and so on

So we should be spending our leftover money on backs, not wasting more money in our forwards when we already have a pack thats better than the Roosters and equal to the Storms.

I think this will be good for our young props Lawrie, Sele and Kerr. They now have one spot open between them in the in the NRL level to compete against.

Mary you need to grow a pair and put these guys in. They will only get better and they surprise all. We don't need more experience in the forwards. Your conservatives selection policy needs to end and put everyone on notice perform or the young guys will take over.

Mobels I really , in my heart of hearts do not believe that is the case - a better pack then the Roosters ? Equal to the storm ? Not quite , we have a very capable pack but not up to the likes of the Chooks , Storm and a few of the other front runners .

We will once again be relying on Paul Vaughan to be a big metre - eater , the only trouble is that Packer has gone to greener pastures and we will now need some else for those ever so quick play the balls to get a roll on effect . Graham has class as does Fizzell and others , but we do not possess a Smith in our pack , I am referring to a real schemer who can direct the pack around the park .

Nevertheless I do think that we will fight our way into the end of season games and fro there who knows ?

Wait wait hang on a minute.... Are we really taking this seriously? An article about signing a player for the 2019 season from a website that looks dodgier than my toilet after a bad curry. Seriously I took one look at this website and immediately scanned for viruses.

And secondly, Possm never predicted the Walmsley signing... He just said he wanted it to happen.
I'm sorry to piss on your bonfire mickeylane but you're getting a little ahead of yourself here to be saying things like "looks like Walmsley is ours".
If it happens, then I will happily retract, but for now, the gun has been well and truly jumped.
Good early call TRVR and your bladder proved to be very full as his bonfire is now well and truly out.
Maybe mickelylane meant bow as in "drawing a long bow" rather than bow as in curtsey?

Roosters forward pack is extremely poor and were dominated in the final series which is why they stumbled out in the semi finals last year.

Napa and JWH are nothing but pillows now.

The likes of Graham and Vaughan is a better starting prop rotation than Glasby and Browmich and Friz is better than Kafusi. I'd also rank JDB slightly better than Finucane. So I consider our forward pack being able to match the Storm.

In my opinion the only better forward pack than ours in the comp is the Cowboys. The main issue with our team is our pedestrian backs.

Interesting proposition - sign a top line centre or winger. Please give me a hint on who in our current backline would you drop given the fact that Aitken, Lafai, Nightingale, Mann and Dufty had all had their contracts extended for the next few years. Surely, given that they all played first grade games last season and all except for Dufty did not play in the Cutters line-up last season, the player you nominate to be dropped for a new top line centre or winger, should never have been extended.

I think you might be lacking real pace outwide. Both Lafai and Aitken are good strong centres but lack genuine speed. I think Nightingale is competent but is well past his best. So signing a quality outside back with speed to burn i thought would be a priority.

Millward has repeatedly said they wont buy players just because they are available so you would suggest that we have money to spend still for this season. The pommie winger anyone ( if available )
It's interesting to see Bennetts take on Front rowers.Look for size , strength & commitment and willing to learn & follow game instructions , don't pass the ball and make errors and also don't pay too much for them. It's called the Webke model. If we only had coach's who could create one such as Kerr, Lawrie etc .

I do not think that Aitken is slow. Lafai and Nightingale are slow and Mac Donald is lumbering. Apart from fullback, I think that we should start with Aitken and Mann and then pick the other two backs who have the most pace, good attack and solid defence who may be Garrick, Herbert and or Lomax. We do not want a backline that does not fire for another year. We should aspire to having the best attack and defence in the competition. Turnstile defence should be eradicated.as it has existed for the last six years.

Napa is one of the most overrated forwards in the NRL, terrible stats, the only stat he excels at is missed tackles. For everything else he's not in the top 25.

I hope that is the case Mobels , however the addition of Ben Hunt will certainly add more direction to our attack this year and also Graham leading the pack will also be of great benefit . My only other concern is our durability or fitness come the mid-season mark , as I would be disappointed if the team fell into another slump once again.

In fairness to possm and jon moz, Walmsley may well have been ready to sign...up until this thread started! As soon a mickeyland states something, the opposite usually become true...
