Apparently Nikorima told he be a bench player next year and no certainty past 2020, Seaibolt not happy with his form. (James Hooper NRL 360).
We offered 4 years.

One question I ask myself.
Can the Warriors win a Grand Final with Kodi at half?
Sadly I think the answer is no.
And yes, I realise he may be the least of their problems.
But I would like the Warriors to consider this question about all their new recruits.
Good question to ask.
Would you ask it for all positions?
Not sure who we could sign available in the halves that we could win a GF with.

Anyway the way contracts are we move him on if something better comes up.

The answer to that question would be no with any feasible halfback option in place of Nikorima.

There's only a couple of halves that may sway that answer to yes and they will never come anywhere close to here.

Hell yeah, need to find him a partner.

Young Roache is good and will only get better, Roger world class, there is a young kiwi Wally Lewis out there, find him.

I only see positives...

Yes, Chanel has been doing alright so far but can we rely on him full time yet? With Green at the back end of his career, injuries to him are a higher possibility.

We sign Kodi, this year he plays halves with Green.

I believe Luke MAY be off at the end of the year, so next season you can line up a potential spine of RTS-Green-CHT-Roache with Kodi off the bench OR RTS-Green-Nikorima-Roache with Tevaga on the bench.

There will be likely be injuries, suspensions or general unavailablity throughout the halves at one point or another, so CHT and Keighran can still be in and around first grade.

Kodi gives us experience, versatility and he's still 25 so best years coming. Lance Hohaia Mk II

Mitchell Pearce is a premiership winning half. It’s as much about the players around them.

Firstly I qualify this by saying I don’t rate Kodi Nikorima. I would much prefer we focus on Chanel this year and have good money up our sleeve for some top line forwards.

But I am reminded that Shane Kelly won a Grand Final as a halfback. So did Chad Townsend.

I think for the record Shaun could have won one in his prime if he had better forwards around him.

Currently can we? No, we can't. Could we win a GF with any halfback in this comp? No, we couldn't. Could we win a GF with any halfback in history at their peak? No, probably not. Too much swiss cheese in our squad.

I'm OK with the signing. I'm not a big fan of his, but he is a decent NRL grade half and is also more than capable of playing hooker. I think it's no bad thing if he's Green's partner now, provides a level of experience to play beside CHT if required, or slots into hooker should injuries require that as well.

Don't be sucked in by the media's dumbarse 'is he the saviour' sort of rhetoric.

https://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/leagu...-warriors-should-look-at-before-kodi-nikorima

That article in particular is laughable. 500k isn't saviour money. He then labels Aidan Sezer an 'ultimate No7" (Raiders fans would laugh). Goes on to mention Dylan Brown who we already had a go at, Tyrone Roberts (!), George Williams (because star quality UK backs always go well in the NRL) and a guy already on our books who will probably play anyway.

Just having a quick look at numbers for last year on Nikorima and SJ, makes for some interesting reading.

Nikorima - 10 line breaks, 10 line break assists, 9 tries, 9 try assists, 17.6 tackles avg per game, 2.6 missed per game, 100 kicking meters a game.

SJ - 7 line breaks, 11 line break assists, 4 tries, 14 try assists, 17.5 tackles avg per game, 3.6 missed per game, 220 kicking meters a game.

Significantly more try assists and kicking meters, and slightly more missed tackles for SJ, but more tries and line breaks to Kodi, with the rest of the stats prettt even.

I know stats aren't everything, but if we're paying half as much for Kodi, then it's a pretty good deal imo.

We can win with both Nikorima and Brown in our halves. No joke I think they will compliment each other well. CHT can bide his time he is getting a good deal at the Warriors now and with patience he will get his chance. Who knows could be Brown / Harris-Tevita with Kodi at hooker or utility 2020 onward.
