Warriors signings, contract extensions thread

I'd have thought we'd offer up enough to keep at least one of them. Who do we have if one of our props goes down next year? Bluey must be hoping that one of the U20s boys can step up.

The European Polynesian, just sayin'

But seriously, Ukuma could fill in as a bench prop as we have enough 2nd row depth to allow this. I'm sure they'll be some Vulcan's prop who could fill in a few minutes if we were hit really badly by injury.

Steve Rapira could fill in at prop too, spent a bit of time there at the cowboys.

Yeah, fact is we have a surplus of top quality second rowers.
IF Poching, Houma and Gavet are indeed gone - I'd convert Ukuma and Steve Rapira to props. We really need 6 decent ones in our squad.
Though, if we do go with Friend as an 80 minute hooker, we could have one extra second rower on the bench.

1 Locke
2 Tupou
3 Inu
4 Ropati
5 Manu
6 Maloney (fingers crossed...)
7 Johnson
8 Lillyman
9 Friend
10 Packer
11 Mannering
12 Taylor
13 Luck

14 Brown (though apparently training in the centres...)
15 Ta'ai
16 Packer
17 Sam Rapira

...sweet team!

Somebody needs to tell Bluey that houma played for Mt Albert.
He might get an extension jokez.

They already view Steve and ukuma as props anyway - hence the possible release.

Gavet comes up with all the high impact plays - just need to learn a bit more of the graft to make in NRL.
game time in first grade will get up to standard quickly imo.
Goodluck to him wherever he goes.

I reckon they might offer Gelling a 2nd tier contract.
He has potential at centre I reckon - probably a bit more flair than Penehe.

Haha. TBH I remain unconvinced by our outside back stocks. Berrigan was a solid performer for us.

Hey, I agree; Berro was great for us, and good luck to him -- but I don't think our 2012 season will be determined by centre depth.

Assuming Ropati suffers his customary season-ending injury, Inu goes walkabout, Brown continues to miss tackles and Manu limps through the season scoring 1 try for every 2 he concedes? Haha, I hope you're right!

They would have got better offers elsewhere - I'd put the house on it. Poching Vulcan's POTY? Wouldn't be kicked to the curb.

Poching POTY for Vulcans but still no sign of any contract in either NZ or Oz. However, with Gavet probably on to Oz Upu MIGHT be thrown a lifeline by the Warriors if they need back up for the incumbant 4-prop rotation.

Upu was POTY and James was named to NSW Cup Team (check out Cup website) - go figure!

Houma's been 'let go' and no plans to go off shore. His form did drop somewhat this year after a barnstorming start.

Thanks for the update PL -- Hope you're well, mate. Do you have any oil as to why Gavet appears unlikely to feature in Bluey's plans?

does it really require any 'oil'??

1. Rapira
2. Lilyman
3, Matulino
4. Packer
5. Taai
6. Packer

So it would be better for future opportunities to go elsewhere

Maybe he thinks
Gavet is high impact but still not hardworking enough for NRL

It would be great to know why our new coach would be releasing a NSW cup prop of the year whilst releasing two other players and no obvious replacements. Pretty odd really...

You rate Packer at 4 & 6? Still only one back-up. We have let Latimore go too.

Is it really worth it to convert more second rowers into props? I know it worked with Matulino, but still.

It'll seem like a pretty stupid decision if Mutts and Lillyman go down injured and Ta'ai and Rapira fail to take the step up.
