Was it true?

During the Grand Final last night Ray Warren said that the only Roosters junior in the game was playing for Manly. Can it really be true that the Roosters team didn't even have one Roosters junior in it?!?

Depends what you consider a junior.

Some players have only ever played for the Roosters, but if we're going to base it on pre NYC then when do the Roosters ever have juniors? They're renowned for poaching their asses off at junior level. Didn't realise this was news.

not sure that Manly had many pre NYC players in their squad despite having more junior teams at their disposal.

Manly and Roosters both contribute hardly anything into the NRL junior wise

you probably couldn't make up a NRL team of local juniors from these clubs who currently play first grade

Does it really matter?

Of course it does. How can anybody be proud of their local team if there aren't any locals in it?

I figure that he meant juniors as players who were born or raised in the eastern suburbs and played as kids for the local teams.

Yeah, but I didn't realise the extent of it.

Shouldn't Minichiello fit this description? He grew up in eastern sydney and played for a junior club there.

Lucky Prometheus is here to alert the community of this injustice

Ray Warren alerted 2.18 million people about it last night. I just wanted to know if it was true. It didn't seem possible to me. Even Melbourne has a local junior in their team.

big hit!

it's a national club competition in the professional full-time era FFS. it's about head hunting and securing the services of the best players available and bringing them together within an organisation to achieve the same objective. no different to any other workplace.

we already have representative football at provincial, state & national level.
