LOL, can you imagine the reaction when Boyd gets the ball next time he's at Newie when his playing for someone else?

I wonder how much this will affect us on the field for the rest of the season. We all saw what they did when Smith announced he was leaving. Threw the towel in (and threw away a top 4 finish) until the club gave in and sacked him.

Probably just saved Canberra the spoon. Damn it.

Surely this could have waited until after the rise for Alex game. It's going to be a highly emotional day, but everyone in the crowd will know that Wayne has already thrown the towel in.

This was always going to happen. Let's bring in some fresh ideas.

Yes there's a chance we are going to lose a few players and we may even struggle to sign any big names for a while, but if the head coach is earning Bennett's pay packet because of his clout in the player market, rather than what he delivers in terms of results, then I say good riddance. The coach is a coach first and foremost. It's not like he signed superstars here anyway. He picked up some great opportunistic buys like Gagai and Leilua and held onto a few juniors.

Young coaches have been proving themselves in the big time for years now. Gone are the days where you have to get one of the proven old fellas. Get the right coach and let's play some football again.

I'm actually excited about this. Our on-field approach needed a shake-up. There's a decent football team in there if we can just squeeze a couple more forwards in there. I don't think we're miles away with a little bit of luck.

Mamo
McManus
Gagai
Leilua / S. Mata'utia
Uate
Mullen
Roberts
T. Sims
Rochow
Scott
K. Sims
Clydesdale
Snowden

Tuimavave / Gidley
Tapine
Houston
PROP

Vaivai
Taylor
Fitzgibbon

Obviously we still need at least 2-3 forwards, but there's a nucleus to work with.

Rick Stone must be wondering why he put his career on hold for three years. While I don't have him as my first choice for coaching the club in the fair dinkum dept, the bloke was sold a raw deal.

Depends how many of those Bennett takes with him wherever he goes next year.

I'm willing to bet that our team next year will look nothing like that

Gutless.

The NRL aren't interested in a successful Newcastle, they are happy for us to exist, but would prefer we merely exist.

They want the "glamour" Sydney/SEQ/Melb clubs playing the finals, not the toothless hick cousins. Can throw Canberra and NQ in that category too.

Guarantee Stone gets the gig, we sign fugg all, we lose a heap of players, and we run 12th or worse next year.

We aren't going forwards until a new owner is found.

I wonder of Andrew Johns might be in a position to come back in a coaching role (not necessarily head coach).
He'd be asking a packet but anyone we get as head coach isn't going to cost what Bennett has.

Its hardly the NRL's fault that the previous new owner was a merkin.

So I just hear a grab of his press conference, he is basically saying if the team had performed better he would have stayed. So he's admitting defeat? Admitting failure and decided its all too hard?

Boyd is a good chance of staying.
All depends on his soon to be ex wife leaving town or not.
As for Dane, if he's staying he will be staying for Alex

Actually he got the same deal as the rest of us.

Has been my concern about the NRL all the way along, we are just there to make up the numbers, nothing more.
