Why on earth would anyone put there body through a whole season of training and playing rugby league for $25,000? That can`t be right, surely? I wouldn`t get out of bed every day for $25,000 a year.

Well most do it for nothing, on top of other jobs.
But I agree with your point.

Um for the same reasons millions of people play sport and attend training sessions for free, simply because they enjoy playing that sport and do it for fun, fitness, and socialising. No brainer really.

If Walker's part of our second tier, he'd probably attend 2 short training sessions a week, play on the weekend, and spend the rest of his time pursuing whatever career he wishes to pursue.

In regards to his signing what Walker did to Souths was worse than what Jamie Lyon did to Parramatta, and we all know what we thought of Lyon back then. Walker's actually paid for it the rest of his career though, as instead of becoming an origin regular, he's found himself become a journeyman relying on clubs to throw him lifelines to keep his career going. Will be handy for depth.

Hahaha.

My point was Boxy said 'wearing the blue and gold is all that matters' and I disagree. I'm not going to support a player I don't like just because he wears the Eels jersey (although he'll be lucky to this season).

I didn't support Finch when we signed him, and I ain't gonna support Walker.

And I have never walked out on my club just because they were losing, so yes, I am going to cast a stone.

The casting of the stone comment was about mistakes - if you have never, ever made a mistake in your life then you can cast a stone. If you have, then who are you to judge? That's the point.

What if Chris Walker scores the match-winning try in the Grand Final, shortly after tackling his opposite number into touch to save us? Will you like him then?

Don't be so sure that he won't play in the first 17. He's a Kearney signing so maybe he can see the good in him that you don't. Kearney will play with the style of play & 17 that he thinks will win football games. If that means Walker playing ahead of Burt then our opinions won't come into it.

My opinion though is that the writing is on the wall about Burt. Walker & Atkins will want his spot that he'll have to improve a lot on the rubbish he served up last year.

You`re on the right track, but you`ve missed the point. I think the writing is on the wall regarding Eric Grothe. I think his injury issues may have caught up with him, and I wouldn`t be surprised if he doesn`t see much first grade next year. My tip? Luke Burt to have a blinder of a year! ;-)

I think you may be wrong. Grothe was no chance of staying with the eels when Anderson was coach. Most of the posters on here with contacts in the club even mentioned it was unlikely Grothe would stay. However once there was some smoke suggesting Anderson was going to be sack and Rumours suggesting Kearney would be the new coach, Grothe resigned with the club. It was like the resigning was right out if the blue - I suggest it was Kearney's decision that he wanted grothe resigned !!!

What`s all this talk about Jeffrey Dahmer? He was a reserve grader! Jack the Ripper is the player we need. A bit old now, but in his day he could really slice through a defence! Straight up the guts!

That is ridiculous. I guess no-one can never ever complain about anything at all now can they? I guess I won't ever call anyone a butter fingers for dropping a really simple ball, as I have done that before.

Walker may not think walking out on Souths was a mistake, I have not done that. I think it was a mistake, and I have a right to think that and express that. I think Walker is an idiot for doing that, get it?

No, I will not like him as a player if he does that. Finch made many game-winning plays at Parramatta, I was happy he did it, but as of now, I still don't like him as a player! And I have a right to do that, so don't come saying all this holier-than-thou crap just cause I don't like another player.

So glad I am in the UK at the moment... Season 2011's recruits in Webb, Maitua, Walker are players I thought I would never see in the blue and gold. Disgusting.

I'll give them a chance, but they won't be getting my support yet.

Thanks, I didn`t know that. I still think injuries might play their part, though.

definitely - Grothe either seems to be injury free for the season or he misses most of the season becuase of injury. Once he gets injuredt seems like he is unable to come back for that season.

Chris Walker? WTF??

Originally, my thoughts exactly. Still don't know how I'll get really excited when he scores his first try - if he does. Always thought he was a total knobhead. Nothing has changed my views on that. Eventually though, I will cheer him if he behaves himself off the field and also on it. If he just plays good footy, doesn't act like a tool off or on the field and when he has been tackled, thrown into touch, been penalised etc...
It will be hard for me to do that after disliking him as both a player and a human for so long. I am however, willing to give him a chance.

Have we recruited a halfback? If no, then .

What's that supposed to mean? :?
We shouldn't have signed Walker because we haven't signed a halfback? :?

First bit - sure I'll cheer him next season if he's not a knob end off-field, just expressing my opinion on the recruitment.

Second bit - why recruit in positions that aren't an issue, when we appear lacking elsewhere? Again, just expressing my opinion on this recruitment - try and keep up Suity ;-).

With Jonathon Wright gone, with Grothe appearing now to be injury-prone, with Reddy under an injury cloud, with Tahu`s history of injury, yes, we need back-up in the wing/ centre positions. Walker can play wing, centre, and fullback and is also a goal-kicker. He and Atkins would have come very cheap, too. Not everything this club does is bad, Bartman. Also, please tell us again which really good quality half-back is off contract at the moment?

He's just expressing an opinion Lingard. Seems like you need to keep up too. :sarcasm:
