"David Gallop said to me that there will be at least one Queensland team in expansion plans and I asked him to go back and have a look at what he said and then he said there could be two," says Denis.

What does this mean for the Central Coast Bears and WA Reds?

I think the NRL have said they would like a team AT SOME STAGE in the west Brisbane corridor, and maybe CQLD is in the frame now also in the long term. As for short term expansion plans (ie next round), I'm extremely confident re the Bears and still pretty confident about WA Reds.
I'd be more concerned for the Bears bid then the Reds if the Brisbane Bid gets on a roll. Very much doubt they'll go with two teams from the heartlands.
RL fans launch first ever WA supporters group!

30 new recruits on day one!
The Bears have cleared their obstacles - the Brisbane bid...which one??!!!! has many to clear in a very short timeframe. The biggest being that I cannot see News allowing more competition against the Broncos with so many new sporting teams on the landscape there. Put it this way - Broncos and Storm are supporters of the Bears bid. Who owns/part owns these teams?
The only one that's made itself known so far?
So in other words you think they'll get in due to another act of News acting in their best interests and not what is best for the game? that's something to be proud of... :sarcasm:
Since when has anyone acted in the best interests of the game?!!!:sarcasm: (yes I can use emoticons too) And so far in the past 2 years there has been a Logan bid discussed, Ipswich Jets, Brisbane 2 and rumours of a Brisbane 3 bid....
If the best interests of the game counted, the Bears & Reds would still be in the comp. Hopefully the IC will remove much self-interest, otherwise heartland teams such as the Bears or one of the Brisbane models could never get admitted.
The Bears and Reds have moral as well as sound business reasons to be in the comp. The Bears don't need any help from News Ltd and will get in because they are the leading candidate based on a great business plan and determination from the volunteers and bid members. Don't think its luck they have 5600+ members, financial security and heavyweight political support. Its drive and passion to create a sustainable model that adds value thats impressed the NRL.
Good reason, well done.Rubbish.
I honestly think people don't understand the passion. Until they have their own teams removed and fight for survival (especially when that team chose to do the right thing by relocating for the greater good of the game). People don't seem to comprehend why many people who follow the Bears or live on the CC feel short changed. Why we're so passionate about this bid and why we are going as hard as we are.
Maybe, Souths fans understand and maybe, people who followed the Reds pre-culling might understand as well.
Wait till you meet the Red Army!
Like the Foreign Legion we are made up of Poms, Kiwis, Aussies and a ragtag of other peoples and will be loud and proud!
