I tend to think the Dolphins official colours will be red & white with gold, and that the black we're seeing is just for off-field / merchandising purposes. Look at the current NRL clubs that use black or other colours for their polos, training gear, ect.

For mine, WC Pirates should be gold and black with red.

Dolphins jerseys will, I'm confident to say, be mostly red or white (depending on whether home or away jersey), so Pirates going with the mostly gold or black jerseys wouldn't clash with the Dolphins.

In 1947 in Western Australia the seeds were being sown for the birth of a rugby league competition in this state. Many people were seeing Rugby League as a brand new and exciting brand of sport and confidence was growing.

And in 1948, four locations hosted historic meetings. The Park Hotel, Mends Street Hall, Harvey Field Clubrooms & Langley Park. From these meetings the original four clubs of the WARFL were formed, and two of which still stand to this day….

Fremantle, South Perth, Cottesloe and Perth.

Its hard not to be romantic about sport sometimes, but after some serious scrambling around for the first fixture, which included the creation of goal posts on the last few days leading into the match, the first competition game was played on the 17th of April, 1948 at 12:15pm. It was played between the Perth and Fremantle Clubs, with Perth taking the win 25-17. Rugby League was the big winner and the rest is history.

We fast forward 75 years into the future and many clubs have come and gone over the years, with popularity sky rocketing with the introduction of the Western Reds in 1995 into the national ARL Competition. Although no longer a presence in the NRL, the game in Perth continues to grow and the talent continues to shine.

With players such as Bryson and Bronx Goodwin, Corey Paterson, Daniel Holdsworth & Lee Te Maari, there has been lots of WA home grown talent who have made it in the NRL, and several of their forefathers who achieved similar ARL honours through the 50’s to 80’s.

Western Australia has also in more recent times had Jordan Pereira, Waqa Blake, Curtis Rona, Royce Hunt and Jackson Topine continue to fly the flag proudly for the black and yellow. And with the birth of the NRL W, pioneers like Anneka Stephens, Kennedy Cherrington and up and comer Destiny Brill can trace their roots back to the Western State.

We at NRL WA are proud of the heritage, the people and the players responsible for contributing to this rich history, and in their honour, we have released the special attached “75th Anniversary Year” logo in commemoration of the game’s great local achievement.

We would like to acknowledge hard working NRL WA identity Andrew Kelly and Lucy Bean from NRL Headquarters in Sydney for collaborating to create this fantastic design. Furthermore, we take this opportunity to salute the amazing historical work done by WARL Life Member Rod Fielding who continues to be a guiding light in remembering and recording the wonderful and at times surprising history of Rugby League in our great state.

It is our intention to use this “75” logo extensively through the upcoming year to celebrate this significant milestone.

The bottom part looks like a black and yellow version of the traditional Port Adelaide jumper in the AFL (their Magpies one). Would look great on a jersey.

I really like the WA colours, I can't believe they haven't been used in the NRL yet.

You're odds on to lose it with that McGowan bloke keeping WA locked up super tight.

I like the idea of a Perth side entering the NRL.
For numerous reasons it would be good, New time slot, Bigger exposure for the game, a new big market. And very few reasons against it.
But it’s more likely that if the Dolphins do prove to be a success with Tv ratings I think the NRL will double down and add a 3rd Brisbane side, and it being more then Likely the Jets. The reason I say this is if you look at the two biggest markets for competitions in Australia, it’s the AFL in Melbourne and The NRL in Sydney. Although Brisbane is still more League then anything else, the gap is closing. The NRL would be crazy not to try and capitalize on the south QLD market. SQLD’s population will reach both those big cities in the near future and we want league to be the dominant sport. By adding more teams in the region, creating rivalries, giving more opportunities for young sportsman to make good dollars, I believe League in Brisbane can match tv ratings rivaling AFL/Mel & NRL/Syd within 20 years. SQLD having 4 teams plus NQL Cowboys would be plenty to achieve this.
broncos covering the City & South, Dolphins North Brisbane & up to the Sunshine Coast, Jets Ipswich & out west, while also making play towards the city & south. The government seems keen on building a 20k stadium in Ipswich. So jets play 6@Ipswich 6@Suncorp, Dolphins 3@SSC 3@Redcliffe 6@Sucorp, Broncos 12@Suncorp.
This would give Brisbane 24 Games, while also breaching out towards and giving huge areas like Ipswich & the Sunshine Coast teams of their own.
There’s few reasons against the NRL expanding to 20+ teams in the future, so I feel that Perth will have to wait. Ideally Perth/Adelaide/2nd NZ would be great, but in twenty years the dominant sport will be decided by who owns South QLD, hence why the AFL is pushing so hard for it.

surely that hick halfwit state will be opened in 5 months , we don't need to be making a decision in the next few weeks . Hell we were changing venues within 2 weeks of games being played in 2021

Never understood this argument. Are you really that fearful of the NRL dominated South Qld region being taken over by AFL with its two clubs against the historic dominance and three clubs of the NRL? Never going to happen and making decisions based on irrational fears rarely ends well.

Brisbane has been severely starved of RL content since 1987. We really should have a minimum of three clubs in the Greater Brisbane area.

We also need to tackle the plague of toxic Americanised brands that were designed by cockroaches from Sydney to undermine Brisbane's rich RL history. Broncos don't represent the rich history of the BRL and Titans don't represent the GCRL. Burleigh Bears should be representing the Gold Coast, as the Gold Coast Bears, and Brisbane should be represented by three historic BRL clubs. Cowboys should have always been the Marlins. I'm of the belief that these toxic unAustralian brands have caused immense damage to RL in this state.

You have to qualify that, top tier RL content maybe, it has significant RL content at all other levels. We differ on that, it has been shown in many other sports markets that one club in a city size of Brisbane is enough to capture the cities hearts and wallets. Two clubs brings rivalry which can have its positive spin offs in generating interest. More than that and you have to question why unless the existing two clubs are operating at full capacity customer reach and adding more brings in new customers who aren't currently supporting the existing two, or cant because very game is a sell out.

Again I disagree, having new brands means you dont create the Sydney NRL situation where you have 12k people interested in actively supporting a club because of confined geography and historic brand ties, which also leads to swathes of areas "unrepresented' because there isnt a club with that suburbs name at the end of the street.

Most of the biggest and most successful clubs in Australia are not what you are advocating. Broncos, Storm, Eagles, Swans etc. The evidence would suggest you are wrong. the Broncos are by far the biggest RL club in the World. You seem to want three clubs drawing 12k rather than one drawing 36k?
