I've always thought Perth was most likely for the 18th once Redcliffe/Brisbane got it's second team as 17th.

Why would you say that?

NS Bears have quite a number of non negotiables that I think WA can't commit to. WA and the people living there would much rather have a home grown franchise, which they have the money to build as well.

Bears would be better off going to a state like SA who aren't necessarily as developed as WA in terms of rugby league. They can come in and change the whole game there, leaving a lasting imprint, while it'll be hard to tap into the market of the game in Perth.

It would make more sense. Probably speeds up an Adelaide teams introduction by 20 years and they could get away with their demands as there really isn't an alternative at this time. If NRL had a long term strategy it could be talking to them about a 10 year plan to establish themselves there.

WA Govt continues to talk up the game and its support for aPerth based club

As stated by Tourism Minister Roger Cook:

“There is huge support for the NRL in Western Australia – and it keeps getting bigger every year.
“The atmosphere at the State of Origin this year was absolutely electric.
“What we are also seeing is east coast sports fans will travel to WA to watch matches.
“It’s a fantastic boost for local tourism and hospitality businesses because the fans spend several days in WA enjoying themselves.

Yep, The Camfield. I'm not a drinker, but pretty much everytime I hear people talking about the event they're going to at the stadium, they're also talking about drinks before and after at The Camfield. Seems a very popular place to go..!

It’s good, if you can get in! We usually avoid it game day as ques are huge to get in the place being the only pub near the stadium. We usually stop off in city then carry on to the stadium.

Raiders look West for talent.


Lions Strengthen Raiders Deal

The South Perth Lions have received a huge shot in the arm with the Raiders development programme to be rolled out to selected eligible players from 2023.

With 2022 being the inaugural Lion’s player participation within the Harold Matthew’s programme, Raiders pathways boss Dean Souter sees a real opportunity to strengthen player development within the Lions ranks.
The development programme will see anywhere up to 13 Lions under the age of 17 mentored once a week throughout 2023 in preparation for December’s trial, where those eligible hope to be named in the 2024 Harold Matthew’s squad.

Juniors President Joe McGuire said ”This is a huge boost for our players at South Perth to progress with their football under this programme, but not only are we developing quality young players, it’s also a fantastic opportunity for our coaching staff at South Perth to hone their skill set, enhancing any endeavour they may have to go on with their coaching moving forward”.

Registrations for the Lions will open soon and we can not wait to see you all for a successful 2023.

With warriors reverting back to traditional Auckland colours and dolphins taking the mainly red jersey it opens the door for the new WA club to have a predominantly black and gold jersey with some splashes of red.

Pros are that no other perth club uses black and gold, it’s kind of the states colours and if it ends up being pirates the colours go with the theme. Only panthers use predominantly black now.

Cons are that perth is sunny most of the time and black absorbs heat so not great colour for merch.
