It seems people on here are always talking up the area they live and talking down the places other people live. Manly fans are convinced they live in 'God's country', Cronulla fans are equally adamant about The Shire, Dragons fans say it only is if God has two heads and plays a banjo on his front porch. Let's be fair dinkum- tell us the things you love AND the things you hate about your area!
THINGS I LOVE ABOUT THE GOLD COAST
* Powdery sand and beautiful water temperature at the beach
* The cultural diversity (where I'm staying, I feel like a minority as a white Australian!)
* The theme parks
* There's so many job opportunities here
* You can drive from anywhere to anywhere, and the longest it'll take you is 15 minutes
* Petrol is cheaper than in NSW
* The variety of landscapes- from the mountains to the beaches and the flat grasslands, and it doesn't take that long to get from one to the next!
THINGS I HATE ABOUT THE GOLD COAST
* No responsiblity for control of urban development
* Too many high-rises
* The Council doesn't seem to give a crap about the above 2 things.
* Not enough local identity
* Too Americanised
* Too many tourists and ex-pats from Victoria and NSW (I know I can't really talk, but how many people on the Gold Coast are true Queenslanders, born and bred?)
* The culture is too materialistic and, at times, hedonistic to be taken seriously
(It is for some of the above reasons that I believe the Central Coast deserves a team before the Gold Coast- for starters, more people on the cental Coast are locals, and will support a local team readily).
