The Brisbane Broncos could be forced onto the field this Friday night regardless of whether full-back Karmichael Hunt tests positive for swine flu.
The entire Broncos squad and staff have been forced into isolation since Wednesday morning as the club and the National Rugby league (NRL) awaits confirmation on whether Hunt has the virus.
Results are not expected before lunchtime today.
If he does test positive, the Broncos have been advised to keep their players in quarantine for 72 hours, meaning they could not take to Lang Park to face the Bulldogs tomorrow night.
But Broncos chief executive Bruno Cullen says the NRL is proceeding as if the top-of-the-table show will go on.
"As far as the NRL are concerned they are pushing forward as if the game is going to happen," he said.
"That is their decision. We are just taking advice from Queensland Health and looking after the welfare of the players."
But Mr Cullen denied the NRL were putting any extra pressure on the Broncos to take the field.
"There is a game scheduled for tomorrow night. We are in that game and we expect that everything is all right and we will play the game," he said.
Mr Cullen has already indicated that a postponed match, possibly on Sunday or Monday, would be a logistical nightmare for television, crowds and future NRL fixtures.
Either way the Broncos are at a distinct disadvantage after not having a full training session since last Friday night's 48-4 smashing at the hands of Melbourne.
Mr Cullen says it is the most disrupting lead-up to a match he has ever encountered.
"We've got most of the coaching staff and some admin staff in lockdown," he said.
"All the players in lockdown, both NRL and under-20s. Of course it is a bit of media frenzy too.
"The preparation is far from ideal, you don't go from one game to another without training. In saying that it's an obligation we've got and the players will step out and do their best."
It is believed Hunt was exposed to the H1N1 virus while in Queensland Origin camp in Victoria after Maroons prop Ben Hannant tested positive after Game I last week.
Queensland Health has told the club there is a strong possibility Hunt has already tested positive for influenza A.
Brisbane's other State of Origin players, Darren Lockyer, Sam Thaiday, Israel Folau, Justin Hodges and Peter Wallace, have already been cleared of having swine flu after being isolated for three days earlier this week.
