Maybe he didn't know Timmah? It's sweet of you to step in on his behalf though.

Were the Bulldogs ordered to quarantine their entire football club?
If Hunt's tests results come back negative for H1N1, it's much ado about nothing... but if they come back positive, your players are able to train all day Friday, the quarantine is only necessary til midnight tonight.

Say what?

"We don't want to panic processes in motion, but we're a bit concerned at the moment about the game on Friday night," Cullen told Sydney radio station 2KY.

"We're waiting on a further test from Karmichael to confirm or otherwise if he's got swine flu or not.

"If he has, our entire squad, that's the first grade and under-20 squads, will be put into 72-hour isolation and commence treatment with Tamiflu.

"We've got the boys at home now, we're not training this morning, we've got them on Tamiflu.

"If Karmichael doesn't come through with it then we can get back to normal but if he does that means the boys are out of action for three days from today."

Considering results were only received yesterday wouldn't that suggest they'd be unavailable until Saturday?

If the Broncos entire squad is unavailable to play because they've been quarantined until Saturday then the game should be postponed. The chances of this being the case are very slim.

Cullen is asking for the game to be postponed due to the Broncos supposedly not being able to train all week.

Even if Hunt tests positive, he should be the only player unavaible for the Broncos. Game on, Friday night.

It's amazing how the AFL has avoided all this swine flu hysteria despite being largely based in the "Swine Flu capital of the world".

Another tick for their relations with the media.

Maybe they have a 3 test/strike policy with swine flu as well.

Apart from wet weather, I know of no other reason that a game has been ever rescheduled. You don't play, you forfeit. The game can be played with both clubs being quarantined for a few days - what's the problem?

I don't think anyone has a problem with what you've just mentioned, at all.

The only issue that I, and many other people (not just Broncos fans have), is that an order could come from the government authorities stating that the game cannot be played. In that circumstance, regardless of which club is worst hit with "swine flu" or whatever, it isn't a choice of the club or the NRL, so no side should have to forfeit the points.

It's all just hysteria anyway. We'll take the field, i'll be there with 40,000 other people and the best team will win on the night. No excuses, and it'll be another good night out at the footy IMO.

Let me DIFFUSE THE MYTHS for you people once again.

Its pathetic watching some of you swear and/or throw about misinformation.

The problem with swine flu is that its a flu WITH origins from birds and pigs. There's heaps of flu strains and something like 200 common colds.

Each time you contract one of the colds or one of the flus your body builds a life long immunity, but as you might guess there's enough there to last a lifetime. In addition your body has some resistance to most new colds and flus.

The problem with swine flu is that because it has bird and pig origins, humans have absolutely no resistance to it whatsoever. We've never been exposed to anything like it before.

Now is it a super duper kill-em-all flu? No

Is the media beating it up dramatically? Yes.

What country did it break out in? Mexico - a poor and hygienically backward country.

In your normal garden variety flu it always had the potential to kill people, especially the very young or the old and weak. Swine flu is not too much more deadly, except that because we have zero immunity people can catch it more easily...therefore it stands to reason that statistically more vulnerable people will catch it, and possibly die.

Is it going to kill a fit young athlete? No...not so much as the old flu could.

Normal flu infected players are sent home to rest in any case. The extra precautions with Swine flu infected players right now cannot be fully justified. The whole point of the heavy World Health Organisation involvement is to stop a possible pandemic. IF swine flu gets unleashed on a massive scale all the weak, elderly and young people are going to be at risk.

I think its a sensible decision made by the NRL to quarantine players in the manner they have.
Unfortunately they are not able to be sensible elsewhere...

As even so, the Swine Flue has been hyped up into overdrive. As to the postponement of the match. THE ONLY REASON THEY ARE NOT POSTPONING IT RIGHT NOW is because of channel 9.

That network is the scunge on leagues boot, being left everywhere it walks. Once again we have a media company telling us what to do.

For mine, they should already have made a decision to postpone the match. Tickets could still be sold with certainty and people could have a clear idea whats going on. Both teams would be on equal terms then. As it is, channel 9 and their bullsh!t is making this that much harder. A postponment is a good thing because the swine flu is not the broncos doing...its an extraordinary outside force thats having an effect on the fair playing of the game.

Someone rightly pointed out that AFL does not have this trouble. Same country different treatment. Such a shame for the nrl, who on earth negotiates these things?

But it looks like the game wont be postponed. And it will go ahead. So be it, but one would say as we sit 2 days out from it, it has the potential to be a farce.

And that is what adequate powers to postpone matches would avoid NRL! and channel 9!!

Once again we see the actual rugby league being put second to making money and credibility....when will someone come and put things back to how its meant to be....rl first, everything else second.....the important thing to protect here should have been A. FAIR RESULT first and formost...and B. RL credibility and the avoidance of innuendo and uncertainty in the best interests of the fans.

As it is, we have a pyramid in rl that is doing the game damage....they need to put actual rugby league and its protection back at the top, not lining tv companies pockets! So terrible

Dogs & Broncos In Swine Flu Feud

June 11, 2009 12:00am

THE NRL is ready to intervene in a sensational showdown between Brisbane and the Bulldogs over whether tomorrow night's blockbuster at Suncorp Stadium is postponed until Sunday because of swine flu.

With fullback Karmichael Hunt suspected of contracting the virus, Brisbane players, coaching staff and administration were quarantined yesterday after the club's training session at Red Hill was cancelled.

Hunt's test results were due back at 4pm yesterday but will now be released this morning. If quarantined for the regulation 72 hours, Brisbane players would not emerge until Friday afternoon - just hours before kick-off.

That would mean Brisbane players would have trained just once this week - on Monday. The club's six-man State of Origin contingent would not have trained at all. Brisbane officials claim the game should be transferred to Sunday afternoon but the Bulldogs and NRL are vehemently against a move.

"We're ready to play Friday and that's when we intend to play,'' said Bulldogs coach Kevin Moore. "We are training (this morning) and then will be on our way to the airport for a lunchtime flight.

"We've prepared to play Friday so we haven't done much over the past few days, as you do before a game. If the game was pushed back to Sunday, it would affect our preparation. Flights are booked, so are hotels and our fans are travelling north.''

Broncos chief executive Bruno Cullen expressed doubts yesterday as to whether the game would proceed should Hunt return a positive test.

Five of Brisbane's Origin group - Justin Hodges, Darren Lockyer, Peter Wallace, Sam Thaiday and Israel Folau - have been cleared. Each had tests for influenza A. Only Hunt was positive, ensuring he had additional tests for swine flu.

There is enormous pressure on the NRL to allow the match to go ahead if players are cleared, due to the contractual obligations with Channel 9, Suncorp Stadium, sponsors and fans.

Channel 9 head of sport Steve Crawley said they were "always open for discussions with the NRL''.

"I imagine the Bulldogs' hearts are bleeding for the Broncos. Brisbane haven't won six premierships for nothing. Cameras are there at the ground - let's get it on.''

NRL officials will hold further meetings with health authorities should Hunt return a positive test.
"There would be chaos if the game was moved,'' said a well-placed NRL source.

Cullen said yesterday his side would be disadvantaged by not having been able to train this week. "`We don't want to panic processes in motion but we're a bit concerned at the moment about the game on Friday night,'' Cullen said.

NRL chief operating officer Graham Annesley said the league was monitoring the swine flu emergency. "We will be guided by medical authorities,'' Annesley said.

"There are a number of factors that need to be taken into account and we need all the information at hand to do so. Our primary objective at this stage is still to play all games as scheduled if possible.''

NRL expects Broncos to play

Hunt and the Broncos have been in lockdown since Wednesday morning. (AAP: Dave Hunt, file photo)

The Brisbane Broncos could be forced onto the field this Friday night regardless of whether full-back Karmichael Hunt tests positive for swine flu.
The entire Broncos squad and staff have been forced into isolation since Wednesday morning as the club and the National Rugby league (NRL) awaits confirmation on whether Hunt has the virus.
Results are not expected before lunchtime today.
If he does test positive, the Broncos have been advised to keep their players in quarantine for 72 hours, meaning they could not take to Lang Park to face the Bulldogs tomorrow night.
But Broncos chief executive Bruno Cullen says the NRL is proceeding as if the top-of-the-table show will go on.
"As far as the NRL are concerned they are pushing forward as if the game is going to happen," he said.
"That is their decision. We are just taking advice from Queensland Health and looking after the welfare of the players."
But Mr Cullen denied the NRL were putting any extra pressure on the Broncos to take the field.
"There is a game scheduled for tomorrow night. We are in that game and we expect that everything is all right and we will play the game," he said.
Mr Cullen has already indicated that a postponed match, possibly on Sunday or Monday, would be a logistical nightmare for television, crowds and future NRL fixtures.
Either way the Broncos are at a distinct disadvantage after not having a full training session since last Friday night's 48-4 smashing at the hands of Melbourne.
Mr Cullen says it is the most disrupting lead-up to a match he has ever encountered.
"We've got most of the coaching staff and some admin staff in lockdown," he said.
"All the players in lockdown, both NRL and under-20s. Of course it is a bit of media frenzy too.
"The preparation is far from ideal, you don't go from one game to another without training. In saying that it's an obligation we've got and the players will step out and do their best."
It is believed Hunt was exposed to the H1N1 virus while in Queensland Origin camp in Victoria after Maroons prop Ben Hannant tested positive after Game I last week.
Queensland Health has told the club there is a strong possibility Hunt has already tested positive for influenza A.
Brisbane's other State of Origin players, Darren Lockyer, Sam Thaiday, Israel Folau, Justin Hodges and Peter Wallace, have already been cleared of having swine flu after being isolated for three days earlier this week.

I just hope, whatever the outcome, that swine flu does impact on the scurge of irrelevant apostrophes. ;-)
