Just jump in the foxsports websites and read Cullens numerous plea's for the game to be moved to a Sunday.

Perhaps you should quote these plea's if you are to back up your claim that the Broncos "whinged the entire time".

Otherwise your assertion is unfounded, and you should refer to my original comment.

That was earlier in the week, when it appeared as if the players could ALL be quarantined from each other until Friday at 6pm or something ridiculous. Read in more detail, it helps.

Doesn't take 48 hours to get a result. IMO he is positive and the Broncos / NRL are stalling while they decide what to do.

LEAGUE FLU BRONCOS HUNT
BRISBANE, June 11 AAP - Broncos fullback Karmichael Hunt has become the latest NRL player to contract swine flu.
AAP understands the Brisbane No.1 has been told by medical staff he has tested positive to the illness.
But it is understood the NRL will push for the Broncos to still play the Bulldogs at Suncorp Stadium on Friday night.
Brisbane tried to have the match postponed until Sunday with its players quarantined and unable to train since Monday as it awaited the results of swine flu tests on Hunt.
Queensland Health said earlier on Thursday it had no power to stop players from taking part in the match and, while it will offer advice, any decision on whether the game proceeds as scheduled rests entirely with league officials.
The Bulldogs are set to fly to Brisbane this afternoon and want to play the Friday night match.

Meh. I'd prefer a sunday arvo game.

Get an extra 5k through the gate. Possibly more as this BS might keep people away from the game. It is no secret that broncos get there best crowds on sunday arvo.

But whatever.

This is dumb, the common flu has a higher mortality rate ffs
Correct. But given this is a new strain of flu, derived from animals, it has a higher risk of mutating into a superbug, which will have a much higher mortality rate than the common flu. The containment at the moment is not to prevent fatalities, but it's to contain any possibility of a new stronger flu mutating from it in humans, for which there may or may not be any medication to treat it.

The threat may seem minimal now, but it only takes someone with a poor immune system and some other factors for it to become a very serious threat. Thus the reason for worldwide alarm from the WHO. Your common flu, over years of exposure our bodies have developed anti-bodies, with any new virus they are non-existent, the risk of mutation is far greater.

correct

If the game goes ahead and this spreads further the nrl will loose alot more money then they otherwise would. The (WHO) is having meeting the morning with our goverment and they could easily stop the game.

Akermanis linked to NRL swine flu fears
By Mat Mackay, WWOS
12:30 AEST Thu Jun 11 2009

Controversial AFL star Jason Akermanis has revealed he may be the source of a possible swine flu outbreak that has thrown the National Rugby League into turmoil.

Akermanis confirmed this morning that he was suffering flu-like symptoms when he visited Queensland's dressing rooms during the opening State of Origin game in Melbourne on June 3.

Following the clash, Maroons and Broncos forward Ben Hannant was diagnosed with the virus, becoming the League's first confirmed case of swine flu.

Hannant’s positive test resulted in more than 50 Broncos players and staff being forced into quarantime which is set to conclude at 10pm on Friday night.

Several other Queensland State of Origin team members and staff have also been forced into quarantine this week.

Akermanis said he had yet to be screened for swine flu and several of his Western Bulldogs teammates were also sick.

"I think there's a few people up in the northern states going how on earth has not one AFL player got pig flu when clearly there's so many cases down here (Victoria), and yet all of them up there including three or four NRL clubs are all in lockdown," Akermanis said.

Swine flu has been blamed for more than 100 deaths around the world and while health authorities in Australia continue to combat its spread, Akermanis scoffed at suggestions he should be worried.

"You have it for three days and you're fine," he joked.

Akermanis was speaking on Melbourne radio station Nova 100, before boarding a plane with his Bulldogs teammates ahead of their clash against Port Adelaide in Darwin.

A club spokesman was not immediately available for comment.

Well i just heard the match IS going ahead.

AND Hunt may even play as he may recover in time.

The AFL may have to handle something like the nrl has done soon enough.

So Broncos essentially wanted the game delayed or postponed because they haven't been able to train for some of the week....

Their players should be well rested then. Well, unless they've been visited by a bunch of groupies all week at their homes. No danger of $50k fines if you're at home.

Maybe they've all shagged themselves to a standstill and the club needs to get them going.

Maybe they should all take some viagara and fire the f**k up. Would make the scrums rather difficult though. They'll be less willing to bind than ever.

Would bring new meaning to a ref saying "get your head in there"...........
