Why couldn't a league player per year make it? They don't all have to have the meteoric rise Hayne has.
I could very well see college scouts watching video of U20s matches and then offering scholarships to potential players. They could then spend a year or more learning and playing in that league and entering the draft.
Lattrel Mitchell would be someone who could definitely transition. Huge, strong, fast, agile, and can't tackle worth a damn
If the NFL truly wanted to plumb the depths of talent in Oz and NZ they would no doubt unearth a player per year after a few years of getting the systems in place.
I was referring to that half wit Bunniesderp commenting that the NRL will become a feeder comp for the NFL..
Yes, it's certainly conceivable that U.S. colleges could offer scholarships to talented junior athletes in Australia... Of course they won't be paid( unlike they will be if they stay here) and their chances of going onto the NFL are not great..( just look at the thousands a year that play college and the few that make it)
I can't see too many established NRL stars giving up guaranteed dollars here to pursue a low chance option over there...and the ones that do have to have Hayne's skill and determination ... They aren't dropping from the trees.
