What is your most unpopular opinion about the NRL?

The highlight of the 90s has to be St George shitting the bed, not once, not twice, nor even thrice, but frice.

2 of the 4 I agree we dropped our guts deluxe. 92 and 96 (especially 96) were amazing seasons to get there in the first place.

Anyway... us and the Bills were sister clubs back in this glorious era..

Parramatta would be barely top 8 if they didn't have the referees bailing them out all the time.
This. Parramatta get more preferential treatment from the referees than any club in the NRL. Melbourne are a close 2nd and daylight third.

I disagree - they are a better team than everyone outside the 8, definitely better than Cronulla, and a step in front of Newcastle.

But then again, this is a thread for unpopular opinions so yours is valid.

I would describe Cronulla and Newcastle as barely top 8 teams. Most years, they're not competing.

That being said, Parra beat Cronulla by 2 points, scoring less tries, and having a lopsided penalty count in their favour (let's ignore obvious knock ons not being called). I wouldn't put them much higher than the Sharks. They can defend a hell of a lot better, but they are directionless with the ball.

I think it’s one of the weakest top 8’s I can recall.

The Storm Panthers Roosters n Raiders are definitely strong sides. Up until 3 weeks ago the Rabbits were mediocre but have turned it on since.

Parra are a decent side, about the same as they were last season.

All other sides are below par for mine, but 2 of them will make finals. Many have performed far below expectations. I’d suggest only the Warriors and Titans have improved from last year.

The 6again interpretation has just forced the two best coaches in the game to continue to evolve and invent other ways to slow down the ruck.

Is Cooper Cronk being a horrendous commentator an unpopular opinion? If so,that.

I can live with Cronk, he's early in his commentary career, he's got great player insight and is clearly an intelligent bloke. Probably just needs to work on some personality and develop a more 'natural' flow.

The real crime against rugba league is that Andy Raymond was let go by Fox while potatoes like Gordie, and Blocker remain employed.

Sorry Bwaith is the biggest potato. Bloke takes 5 minutes longer than anyone else to notice what is happening on the field. Case in point a couple of weeks back, Roosters v Wests Tigers game, around 6 minutes from full time, he says "Lussick on the field and about to get his first touch in the NRL". Thing is Lussick had already been on the field for 5 minutes, had run the ball at least once, made some tackles and had at least half a dozen touches of the ball.

At least Gordie and Blocker are not that un-observant.

Channel Nine were smart enough to keep Roach on the sideline 20 years ago.

Why Fox have decided he can contribute more in the box I will never understand. From telling clearly concussed players to "get up because their team needs them" to saying Townsend's send off was harsh "because it was just a simple shoulder charge".

Anasta and Tallis are morons, but Roach promotes a dinosaur attitude to the game.
